Life is rather amazing at times....

The city of San Francisco this week began allowing non-citizens, including illegal immigrants, to register to vote in the November election for the city school board.

“This is no-brainer legislation,” Hillary Ronen, of the city’s Board of Supervisors, told the publication. “Why would we not want our parents invested in the education of their children?”
I've found it easier to tear up tickets at 8/1 instead of 8/5.

If this election is specifically limited to school board members, and the voting pool expanded ONLY for this election, it isn't really crazy.
If the children of illegal immigrants are attending public school, their parents should care about their education.

I have a dumb question... seems dumb to me anyway.
I get why I am no longer allowed to drive...I have seizures and have twice had one behind the wheel. I quit voluntarily.
This leaves me with a city bus that seems to take days to do what should be 10 minutes. Last week I could at least get dropped off in front of the Dr's office. Now the route changed. Now I have a 45 minute walk to get to my GP's office. The specialist? At least a half hour trudge.
This could almost make sense. I get exercise. Excuse me...in summer, in Tampa, no such thing as summer. It is too busy being rainy season. I could drown on a good day. Bad day and I am having an argument with a hammerhead with bad breath. All of it at 90 degrees or higher.
Geez Louise.
This as I am sitting on a bus bench no bus goes by anymore. Thunderheads are 2 miles high. It"s getting dark at noon already!

World's Finest Chocolate fund raiser bars.
I guess it's nice that they're still just a dollar, but geesh, if they get any smaller they'll be a good stirrer stick in a cup of coffee.

In the bed again..... accompanied by a large group of nurses, phlebotomists, dr wannabes and the real thing.
Oh, the joys of 4 AM bloodwork.
If it isn't bloodletting, it's blood pressure.🤒

I hope the fact that they let you 'escape' means you're feeling better.
Maybe you could train one of The Little Darlings to carry your multiple meds in little doggy saddlebags on their harness? ;)

I'd have more luck hitch hiking with a dolphin pod.

Ok. The winter pool tournament season is starting. I spent yesterday in Winter Park, not playing... had a call that I was a required spectator so that I could catch up on the messages I seem to be the only means of delivering to the players that didn't get there.
Last night was interesting. Michael filled up motels as far as the eye can see. This is Magic Kingdom territory. Lots of motels.
Finally found a room out on S R 54. Shouldn't have.
I am proud to announce that I personally accounted for reducing the future existence of at least 12 billion roaches by personally swatting all that I saw. Then I went to the office and yelled until I got a jug of roach spray and sprayed every corner.
No wonder I found a room there.

Oh yuck. That's horrible.
I hope the roaches weren't accompanied by their distant cousins, the bedbugs, in the linens on that bed.
I think I'd have slept on the floor...just in case.

Oh, don't worry, I stripped the bed and shook out everything. My overnight bag slept in the trunk.
This is Florida. Roaches range from pinhead size to 3" Palmetto bugs. They don't show those pics in ads about moving to the Sunshine State.

My grandparents retired to Florida, and eventually my mother moved down there to tend to my grandmother. I've visited Florida a number of times, and got very familiar with its immense bug population. So...not my favorite state.
And my sister and I wasted no time getting our mom to move to SoCal after my grandmother passed. :P

Does anyone know a nice back surgeon who wants to make medical history? He can replace my lower back and write a nice book about it. Just think nobody else has done it! I don't want this one anymore.

Ever call a cable provider because 4 channels on your TV , which you pay for, don't work beyond scattered dashes and lines, but the other channels work fine. The repairman shows up
Fiddles with the box. Stands up, wanders out the door mumbling. Gets in his truck, supplied by his employer, still mumbling. Starts truck and drives off. Did he fix the cable? No. Did the TV work before he played with the box? Yep, except for 4 channels. Does it work at all now? Hell no.
Thank you for your prompt service, Spectrum. Is anyone answering their phone at their local service center (next door 200 feet away.) You must be kidding.

My community is entertaining an offer from Spectrum to provide us with TV, phone & internet service for a very reasonable price...if everyone signs on. Price goes up if some opt out.
Sorry neighbors, but nothing I've heard about Spectrum makes me want to rely on them for those essential services. EP, your experience just adds to the list of complaints, including some from my very disgruntled family members who are stuck with Spectrum, formerly Time/Warner.
Besides, after carefully scanning the list of all the channels that Spectrum has available, I find that they don't carry TVG. Well, that settled it. :P

Not only do I have TVG thru Spectrum, they're also the only way I can watch all of the Dodger Games!

Count me as a happy customer.

That's strange, Stark. I just went back and looked at the PDF showing all the channels that was supplied to us regarding the Spectrum offer. Even zooming in so I could read it easily, I still couldn't find TVG on that long list of channels. A ridiculous number of shopping channels, but no TVG. :?

The list I have does not show a 139; it jumps from 138 to 159 (QVC). I suspect that means that TVG is only available in a different, more expensive package than what Spectrum is pitching to my community.
Oh well. Thanks for the info.

With Spectrum, you get a cheap package as basic, then some more stuff nobody watches as supposedly a better line up, then some decent movie channels, and finally a premium sports package that does have TVG. I think you are blessed with 3 wrestling channels in that. NFL network is in that, too. Makes you want to chase some phone operators with a hatchet to get the actual repair office speaking to you.
Repairman #2 showed up this morning. The box that is behind the TV was shorted out. Ok. He replaced that. Then he wades through a maze of wires going back and forth. Pulls out a nice black cable. Whatever it did, it no longer did. He bundles that up and stuffs it in his tool bag. He also snipped an end off with some heavy duty wire cutters. Try the TV again.
VOILA! His computer readout came up. The first nitwit had plugged in a cable that some other dork had left hanging when it had been replaced. It seems to have been replaced for a reason. But dork had left it tangled up with the working connections.
Now connect everything and cross fingers. Try the channel changer. Success! Actual normal channels are working.
