it's already taken!!!

Kentucky Chrome (KY)

CH , C, foaled April 27, 2014

There are some older posts in the Breeding section about this one, because just like his daddy, he's all about the chrome :)

Ohio Chrome has been running at Mahoning Valley all year. He's an Ohio-bred by King Cruz-Chrome, by Rhodes (by who out of who by what?) and is a gray.

I agree. They remind me of all the kittens by all of their names having Conquest in them, but they are super entertaining and you can't help but root for their horses.

I saw a picture of a PP list and one horse was named Sharkbait oh ha-ha.

She's part of my partnership's stable. She was only a $10k purchase and she's not very big, but she's lightning out of the gate and just loooooves to run :D

And she's very sweet, too!

If you saw her pedigree, she's by Temple City out of Launchastorm, so you can kinda see where her name came from. We have a few horses that have musically-related names. If you ever listened to the Grateful Dead, Sunshine Daydream heads back to training in a month or so.

Awww...so cute. Guess she hasn't inherited her granddaddy's temperament...for which I'm sure you are all grateful.

Yes! I thought about that, actually. She's super competitive, but has a lovely temperament. Whew!

Twink's Boy Toy, 2yo colt by Suances-Unusual Beauty, by Unusual Heat.
Unplaced at Los Al last Friday. Name is just plain wrong on several levels, wonder how it got past the Jockey Club.

Horsey McHorseface To Debut At Kembla
Cult three-year-old Horsey McHorseface is set to make his long-awaited debut when he steps out in a Kembla Grange maiden on Saturday.

“He’ll run on Saturday for sure. He is all set to go. We’ve given him time and he has trialled well. He is in good order although whatever he does he will improve off it,” said trainer Bjorn Baker.

“He has a bit of a following and the owners are excited to see him. They are all looking forward to it. We’ll have a good look at him on Saturday.”

The Nadeem gelding was cheekily named in a nod to Boaty McBoatface which was the leading public choice in a poll to title a British research vessel. While that name didn’t stick – with figure heads instead opting for the safer option of ‘RSS Sir David Attenborough’ – Horsey McHorseface isn’t going anywhere.

That's so funny! I was thinking that he may have A. P. Indy somewhere- and he does on the dam side.

The most interesting name pointed to the Kentucky Derby is Battle of Midway.
Chris Nolan has a film called Dunkirk this year, so seeing a name like Battle of Midway instantly gave me images of WW2. The irony since Trump looks like he wants to ignite WW3. BoM was the first name to catch my eye for some reason. No wit. Just for historic reference.

Battle of Midway could be a live one with less speed in the race. 50-1? 30-1? "Bombs away" longshot indeed. Go Rick Porter and our admin, Victoria Keith. Wouldn't it be cool to see V in the Ky Derby winner's circle?

Horsey McHorseface broke his maiden today in his third start. He had placed in his other two races.
