To those of you who, like me, have read Bill Barich's fabulous book about racing, handicapping, horses, and life in general, "Laughing in the Hills," from cover to cover many times, the name Ivan Puhich will certainly ring a bell. He was one of the memorable minor characters in the book, the always-in-a-hurry jockey agent at Golden Gate whom Barich had to run after just to talk to. Puhich apparently had quite an interesting life. RIP, and now I'll have to pull out "Laughing in the Hills" again.
