I'm disappointed that NBC couldn't find a way to include the Suburban in their telecast; it could be the best race on the card today.

Coverage has resumed on NYRA.com, if anyone is interested. I always appreciate Maggie's observations.

I appreciate being turned on to the Dubai site, so that I can watch the race live. However, I have not missed having to listen to the grating voice of Toad Schtupp on TVG.

Did going to the front so early cost Catholic Boy in the stretch?
IMHO, I thought the jock moved too soon, but maybe he had a horse who was fighting for his head?

I don't have a wagering account at NYRA, but then I joined many years ago and perhaps thus have avoided later, more stringent membership requirements.
Maggie H. noted pre-race that Preservationist was one of two horses that really seemed to like the track in the warm up.
Claiborne's future sire Catholic Boy might not have won, but their late stallion Arch "won."

Has it been established why Preservationist is only coming into form as a 6 year old? I see he only has 8 starts.

They took it slow with this horse and it's nice to see it paying off. He was fantastic today. 108 beyer and it looks like the sky is the limit.
Catholic Boy ran fine, it was a savvy move to move for the lead on that slow pace, but in two starts this year it doesn't quite feel like he's made the necessary step forward as an older horse. Looking forward to seeing where he heads next.

Sounds like he may have had hoof issues that would flair up.

“We always knew he had a lot of talent,” Jerkens said. “It was very frustrating to never get any continuity with him. Something would happen.

Yeah, on the form there is a long layoff, ~18 months, after his debut race.CoronadosQuest wrote: ↑Sun Jul 07, 2019 11:55 amSounds like he may have had hoof issues that would flair up.

108 Beyers for both Preservationist and Promises Fulfilled. Nice!
