And? Your don't like asterisks?
What I mean is, when in discussion, people will always have to go back and say, "Well, Max actually won", and then that'll start up a debate. And then, similar to how for the longest we had to mention that the Derby was sponsored by Yum! in every mention of the event's name, we'll have to say this.
Everybody here talks about wanting this sport to get more press. Well... Here you go.

It reminds me of the dq that didn't happen at the Belmont in 1998, only because the fouled horse got his nose down on the wire first.
The Preakness coverage to going to be wall-to-wall controversy, both real and/or imagined. I think I'll go on vacation and come back in June.

isn't there usually a bumper cars game coming out of the gate/heading to the turn, every derby? is that analysed as well? (real question, no sarcasm)
I like Anothertwistafate, Signalman (he is going isn't he?), and Alwaysmining coming in fresh.

Probably true, but I saw a foul. That can't be denied by any educated opinion.
There was indeed one, but not to the second place finisher. There is some crazy LSAT logic in Country House winning but War of Will not being moved up that probably explains why I work in insurance, and not on Wall Street.

Full order of finish?

I'm curious of where Master Fencer ended up.

I fully agree that the inconsistency should be addressed, but I think applying the rules to even major races is a good way to start the conversation. It will be very interesting to see which narrative emerges in the next few weeks, and I hope they both go to the Preakness.

There's a lot of vitriol on Twitter, but a lot of people had him and I can't blame them for being upset. At the end of the game, it's neutral or positive for the sport, and that's what matters most going forward.

...just realized I had a Country House/ All Others future pool exacta from like two months ago. It would've paid out okay. Oh well!

Agree... and with no money talking, no money lost. That horse never should have come down.
I've seen way worse in other races with no DQ.
That's the point. Yes, the rule(s) should always be abided by, but the application thereof does not always appear uniform, or so it seems.

In the end, I am just glad that nobody was injured whether it have been War of Will falling from MoS crossing into his path or War of Will cutting the crap out of Maximum Security's legs with his hooves. It is very lucky that War of Will's legs didn't connect with Maximum Security's according to the slow mo!

I used to think this was the case, but it never really is. No one remembers what a sham of a career Zenyatta had.
By sham, do you mean pretty much all of her wins were on synthetic?

He finished the fastest of all, according to twitter, and ended up either 5th or 6th. Not sure where he is now.

Too bad Servis doesn't have Baffert's connections /remember Bayern
Talk about a BS non-call. I was right next to then-Stronach Group/Santa Anita boss Keith Brackpool celebrating with Bayern's owner Kaleem Shah after the win.

I have a photo I can't seem to figure out how to attach...

Most of what I'm hearing from the non-horsey public about this on the rest of the internet has been surprisingly in favor of the DQ. It was obvious that MS committed a disqualifying foul that could have been disastrous. Regardless of whether he was the "best" horse or however times this kind of incident hasn't been called out, the correct call according to the rules of racing was made today.

How many people mad that Maximum Security was DQed are also mad that Bayern was not DQed? Question of the day for me
That would be me, can't help it - the horse ran lights out. I am now going to go out for margaritas - first I will have to put on the ugly boot they gave me for my broken toe - broken by the 12 year old OTTB I ride who spooked when 10 chickens behind him freaked out and all tried to fly at the same time - he spun around and landed on my toe doing so. The chickens are there everyday, you can't stop a horse from spooking, I have far more sympathy for Maximum Security, his jockey and connections - it could have been a disaster, but it wasn't, and Country House was never going to beat him.

Ah that's good! I hope they race him in the Belmont :)

We were inches away from a pileup that would've all but ended the sport but now there's gonna be an asterisk by Country House and Maximum Security every time their name is mentioned, every time the 2019 Derby is mentioned, an asterisk on the Wikipedia page, and we'll now be hearing about this forever.
And? Your don't like asterisks?

Yes, I know. I'm sorry for causing you to be collateral damage in this debate. At least asterisks won't end the sport is my point. And neither will DQs, even in the sports biggest race.

Or even the biggest sport! Sadly I had to watch the Rams give Brady a run for his money. Still upset over that one.

What's not being considered is that War of Will appeared to be moving well before he was impeded. It's impossible to say that without the foul he would have placed better but there is no doubt he was improving his position before Maximum Security took his path away.

Wait I just realized I have no idea how to score the Derby Pool contest now. I suddenly disagree with the decision!!

Was the blimp overhead?
I've found it easier to tear up tickets at 8/1 instead of 8/5.
