I always enjoy this--and more so as I didn't embarrass myself! I know it takes a lot of time to set it up and I appreciate it. Bring on 2019!
I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.

Great work everyone!

Thanks for organizing Tessablue! Couldnt get my act together in time to actually enter some picks, but still had fun following along.

Way to go, Insane Crazy! Thanks to TessaBlue for putting this together.

I'm happy I didn't embarrass myself this year.

I forgot to thank Justify and Audible. Otherwise, I sure would have embarrassed myself.

Tessablue wrote:The results are in! Congrats to Insane Crazy, who absolutely knocked it out of the park with 60 of the 65 possible points! This is the greatest number of points earned in a Derby pool contest I have on record, and congrats also to slewobarney and starrydreamer with their very strong on-the-board performances. Insane Crazy won the BC pool contest two years ago and slewobarney won this very contest in 2016, so they clearly aren't Arazi-types.

The full order of finish is as follows (ties are in no particular order):

Insane Crazy 60
slewobarney 55
starrydreamer 50
stark 40
Kennedy 40
Diver52 40
Katewerk 35
Ballerina 35
PostTimeMike 35
Kurenai 35
tcw 35
Big Ten 35
Horsebagger 35
Sparrow Castle 31
Izvestia 30
bare it all 26
Tessablue 25
Treve 25
Dusty 25
Shoulda Coulda 21
Life at Zen 20
Miss Woodford 16
Forry Cow How 15
Charlie 15
peeptoad 15
Waquoitnbroadbrush 10
agrussel 10
Honor Code 10
Carole 6
Flytothestars 5
Northport 1
MySaladDays 0
Personal Ensign 0
Spahny 0
middleground 0
ThreeMustangs 0

Some additional fun facts: Scat Daddy was of course the winning sire, with 30 points. Curlin earned 20 while Medaglia d'Oro received no points at all. MySaladDays, Life at Zen, Tessablue, tcw and Kennedy all predicted the exact final margin of 2 1/2 lengths. Nobody got anywhere near the final time- the closest was Ballerina with an estimated final time of 2:03.40, with Personal Ensign the only other person close with 2:05.5. EDIT: as tcw pointed out, this was wrong- Horsebagger came remarkably close to the final time, just a tenth of a second off with an estimate of 2:04.3.

Please check my math and let me know if I messed anything up, thanks to everyone for playing, and I'll see you next year! Unless the Preakness has a full field which... I'm not really anticipating ;)
Omg, I was so wrapped up in other stuff I forgot to check this. I...honestly have no idea how I keep doing so well in these things. First the first rendition of the BC contest, now this? :D

Thanks for a stellar fun time as always, TB.
Not a wholesome trottin' race, no, but a race where they sit down right on the horse!
Like to see some stuck-up jockey boy sittin' on Dan Patch? Make your blood boil? Well, I should say!
