La Murette a filly by Jazil was found on Sunday morning in her stall. It appears she got cast during the night.

Poor girl. Don't they have night watch men in the barns? Seems a worthwhile arrangement when you have a barn full of pricey horses.

All I could find was a mention that Freitag (whose last previous race was the 2016 Sir Barton, which he had won) "was vanned home after the accident".

29 horses at a boarding stable died in the Creek Fire near Sylmar, CA. And there are fears that the toll may end up higher as so many people were forced to suddenly flee the huge, fast-moving wildfire.
