I take it that they gave up on him? Only two workouts in the last two months.
I wanna do bad things with you.
Maybe, but I'd be surprised if they give up on him after two races, one of which was on Big Sandy. Let's see if he resurfaces with a work on or about 8/10, since that seems to be the pattern.Flanders wrote:Let's hope so. He isn't going to win a race that they'll enter him in.
Maybe they decided to give him a break or to geld him? I mean I know he has barely raced but he has been in constant training since he was 2.

Or try an actual race. I believe he's had 23094802938509832084023984 consecutive works since he last ran in July 2015.

I know the Mosses aren't hurting for money, but aren't they spending a small fortune in training and other fees on these boys with very little return?
I think that is all owners who have horses with John Shirreffs because he is definitely in a slump and has been for awhile. He hasn't won a G1 since 2011 and only has 2 G2 wins and 2 G3 wins from 2013 to present(and 2 of those were in 2013. he didn't win a graded stakes in 2015). But a trainer can only work with what he has in his stable. I don't know if Cozmic One and Ziconic would do better in another barn, but they aren't doing well where they are and I think a trainer change is needed. Maybe the Mosses feel its not right to do that to a trainer who has done very well for them in the past.ThreeMustangs wrote:I know the Mosses aren't hurting for money, but aren't they spending a small fortune in training and other fees on these boys with very little return?

Just got a workout notification for Ziconic and was wondering what ever happened to his older brother?

The most recent I can find is from November. Still with John.
Once upon a time there was a horse named Kelso.

I see that Sonneteer is in the same race. Has the Midnight Lute colt run on turf before? IMHO, that could be a good place for him.

Sonneteer won. Cozmic One was fourth, not far off at all, maybe a length and a half?
Give me that short lead, give me that win by a nose, get them all home safely!

Thanks lurkey mclurker, a lot closer than I thought. He's late maturing for sure and maybe just hankers to run on grass.

I am sad this big guy didn't become the super star his mother is, but transmitting extraordinary traits is challenging. Off spring are a wild combination of possibilities inherited from both sides--sometimes it nicks and lots of times it doesn't.
Seems like yesterday and a life time ago that we watched videos of baby Coz squeal like a piggy as he raced around his paddock with his mother. Snorting and carrying on...sassy thing!
With "C" there might have been a mix of things not the least being his size and bone. Apparently he grew up big, but he and the rest of his family seem to also be caught up in the break-up of what always looked like a loving relationship. With his primary owner aging, maybe the fun is gone for the couple now that they are apart.
Speculation. Guessing.
Still human drama impacts those around the animals who pick up that energy. I'm happy C is moving on and though the stable he's going to trains and sells, it looks like any future sale will be tied to Mosses (one or both). In the meantime, his schooling will continue and now he's safe in Kentucky again, away from the horrible fires that haunt California.
And we have the little miss Z17 to watch for and the new baby on the way by Into Mischief.
