Saratoga jockey race tough to handicap

For 31 summers, from 1976 through 2006, only seven individuals wore the crown as Saratoga’s leading jockey. Over the last 10 years, seven different riders have won the Saratoga riding title.

Plenty of Action to Start Saratoga Meet

There is no period of warming up, no easing into the 40-day Saratoga Race Course meet that begins July 21.

The opening weekend of the all-important race meet begins Friday with five graded stakes, including opening day co-features of the $150,000 Schuylerville Stakes (G3) for 2-year-old fillies and $150,000 Lake George Stakes (G3T) for 3-year-old fillies on turf, as Saratoga starts to award a record $18.775 million from 69 stakes this meet.

NYRA announces security procedures for 2017 season at Saratoga Race Course

The New York Racing Association, Inc. today reminded guests of the security policies and procedures in place daily for the 2017 summer meet at Saratoga Race Course.

With NYRA's Saratoga Live also airing on different sports channels, like Fox's Prime Ticket, we're going to be spoiled with lots of Spa. The Prime Ticket coverage is in hi-def, which is great, although the time slots may be too short to show every single race. Tomorrow is 1 - 3:30 PM Pacific, and Saturday's is 1 PM - 4 PM.
There will also be 2 - 2 1/2 hours of coverage for the weekday races, but it looks like only TVG will show us the whole cards.

Now that the whole Derby Trail madness is over, it looks like they're going to let this speedy son of Bernardini do what he really wants to do...go fast.

The TVG Dudes brought up the King's Bishop as a possible target for him.

Untamed Domain (Animal Kingdom-Ciao-Lear Fan) won easily in a maiden turf at the Spa today. Big, good-looking horse. AK has had a couple of nice ones early on in his NA stud career; I'd like to see him become a successful sire, if only because of his interesting pedigree.

I love Animal Kingdom, who was a really good racehorse and has stunning looks. He also is carrying his sire's bloodline on his withers, since we lost Leroidesanimaux last year in a tragic paddock accident.

I don't know of another Leroidesanimaux son with stallion credentials.

NYRA launches Saratoga Showdown, a free online handicapping game every day during Saratoga Live

The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) announced today the launch of a free online game, allowing fans to test their skills against each other and win prizes. The contest runs exclusively during races that are broadcast on NYRA's cable TV show "Saratoga Live."

To play, participants must visit www.saratogashowdown.com. Saratoga Showdown features three formats that will alternate on live race days.
