I actually laughed when Nyquist was so clear early. I thought it might benefit him, because the biggest fear before the race was that he would get boxed in, but when Mario didn't gear him down...yipes.
Not a wholesome trottin' race, no, but a race where they sit down right on the horse!
Like to see some stuck-up jockey boy sittin' on Dan Patch? Make your blood boil? Well, I should say!

Real talk: Keith Desormeaux is quite an attractive man.

Not gonna lie though, I'm thrilled for Exaggerator. He and Nyquist are both awesome.
I agree all the way. I was rooting for Exaggerator in the Derby so I can't say I wasn't slightly cheering for him today, sounds like he's Belmont bound which is cool.

Stradivari's HOY campaign got a bit sidetracked.

As a resident Vindy fan, I'm crying! So flipping happy.Insane Crazy wrote:Nyquist went way too fast early -- am I wrong? Oof! Nyquist held in there until the bitter end, but Exaggerator had his eye on him like no other.
As the resident Curlin fangirl, I'm still delighted.

Actually looking forward to the Belmont. If Exaggerator is indeed going, it would be interesting to see if he could turn out to be an unlucky almost triple crown winner who just missed in the Derby.
Also, I'm sure Lani will go there and he has been getting closer to these horses everytime. Interesting horse for the Belmont
Hey and that Curlin dude, he's a pretty nice sire! Now he just needs a Derby winner to add to his collection.

Just read about it. Oh well. 1-4 record vs Nyquist for Exaggerator. He got the ideal conditions he needed. At least for people who were attached to AP, they can breathe a sigh of relief and appreciate his TC win more.
Rock Hard Ten. Free House. Soul Of The Matter. Lit de Justice. Zenyatta. Justify. Cigar. Ghostzapper. Lava Man. Silver Charm.
Hah you're right! How interesting! So now a filly swoops into the Belmont?katmandu wrote:Funny day with connections and the past, etc. Today a son of Curlin beats the Kentucky Derby winner who also won the 2 year old BCC. Aren't Nyquist and Street Sense the only 2 juvenile BCC winners to win the Derby?

You read about it, didn't watch it. And then ran to a horse racing forum within 15 minutes to discuss it.Big Ten wrote:Just read about it. Oh well. 1-4 record vs Nyquist for Exaggerator. "Life's no piece of cake, mind you, but the recipe's my own to fool with."
isn't this the second time you read about but didn't watch, then ran over here? are you at work or something, or... ???
on topic, skip the belmont for nyquist and head for the summer races. def would be happy to see exaggerator in the belmont and think he'd have a very serious chance to win.

I LOVE Vindication and Curlin so Exaggerator is SUCH a heart horse for me! Plus he is a really handsome pony!EquineAnne wrote:As a resident Vindy fan, I'm crying! Seems like Exaggerator is definite for the Belmont, Nyquist uncertain. They should go, Kent at the Belmont is uh, not a sure thing. Absolutely fantastic ride by him today though and I hope we get some real rivalry narrative now.
