Not surprising...I think the writing was on the stallion barn wall after he finished last in the Northern Dancer at Woodbine. Hope he has a long, happy and productive stud career.

Stakes winner Readtheprospectus retired
Readtheprospectus, a stakes-winning New York-bred gelding who had dipped into the lower-level claiming ranks, has been retired from racing.

Readtheprospectus, by Read the Footnotes, was scratched from a $5,000 claiming race at Finger Lakes on Sept. 14. The previous connections of the horse contacted owner Mike Repole, who had claimed the horse for $32,000 last December but hadn’t run him, and a deal was reached to retire him.

Readtheprospectus had begun his career in the barn of Chad Brown, who trained him for Seth Klaravich and William Lawrence. It was Brown, once alerted that the horse was in for $5,000, who contacted Repole.

"She has run some really big races this year, like in the Dance Smartly where she got passed and came back," Casse said. "But she is starting to show her age a bit and when she runs, she puts everything in. We don't want to run just to run."

Showing her age? She took an entire year off!
I'm disappointed, but I don't think horses last incredibly long with Casse (other than Tepin, who is just a beast).

Great story! I've been through an almost similar scenario with my OTTB, the love of my life. Very cool!
Kudos to the whole gang behind this horse.
