Fallen horse and 2 riders down in Aqueduct’s Turnbackthealarm stakes today. First horse flipped shortly after the break losing rider, second horse stumbled over fallen rider, lost his rider but continued on riderless.

I read elsewhere that the horse is fine. Jock pulled up when he felt the stride was off, but it turned out that the horse had only thrown a shoe.

Per Blood Horse, "Prince Lucky left the racetrack in the equine ambulance with an injury to his right front leg, which was placed in a protective splint."

In the 5th on Aug 31st at Assiniboia, Fried Pickles was a DNF: 'fractious in the gate, back early, faded, eased final turn'. I know she's just a $2500 claimer, but does anyone know her fate?

Its always hard to find information on horses that race at the smaller tracks. She was eased right before the meet ended and it doesn't appear the trainer ships horses out of town or hasn't in the past, so even if she wasn't injured, she wouldn't have had time to race again. She has a decent pedigree page, you'd think someone would want her as a broodmare, especially in a regional market. Her dam is a half sister to G1SW Silent Sighs, MG2SW Proposed, and G3SW Prospect Park.

There isn't a death report on file at the JC. That doesn't necessarily mean she's not dead.. Sometime people don't report deaths to the JC. But I think tracks are required to report deaths of any horse that dies on track grounds.

Possibly so, but to what agency? Not the JC, else they always would have a record. The state horse racing people, by whatever name they go by? Manitoba Jockey Club? Or?

Heck, if I'd have won the lottery or otherwise gotten a bit o' money, I'd be/have been the one claiming her for my own tiny stable, along with another mare that fell off the radar the month before her, Unusual Gator (last at Presque Isle Park 31 Jul, no sign of trouble so she may have been retired to breed, or just on a long layoff), as they both have pedigrees that I like to go with their goofy names. But I'm more worried about Pickles because of being in Canada, where she might have been shipped to slaughter if she wasn't injured enough to be put down.

I sure hope they're both alright. It may have been my imagination but it sure seemed like the Assiniboia announcer really liked to say Pickles' name. XD

Thanks for checking.

Cosmic Cat was pulled up with an obvious front injury in the feature R8 at Fair Grounds today (MSW for 2 year olds). Don't expect to hear anything, but thought I'd mention it here.
