loved watching this show when I was young - loved mary on the dick van dyke show.

one thing I was always curious about though.... the MTM show is mentioned often about being the first show to have a single woman, living on her own and making her own career - not the usual married housewife type of show - however, Marlo Thomas did it first in That Girl which started I believe in 1966 (loved that show - love marlo Thomas) - while I have always loved mary too, I have always felt bad that Marlo Thomas maybe hasn't quite gotten the respect she deserved for her show. and also, the tv show Julia which was in the later 60's - another show about an unmarried woman with a son who is living on their own. so never quite got why the MTM show (which started in the early 70's) got all the praise for being so groundbreaking with a single woman working and living on her own. it was not the first to do it.

As a kid Dick Van Dyke was about my favorite comedian. He and Mary Tyler Moore were a wonderful team.
