omgosh he is beyond adorbs!!!
Maybe I'm old school. Or just old. I just don't recall seeing this much white on TB of the past, and the seeming transformation into paints is kind of weird.
Don't know how far back you go, but the whole "OMG white on them means bad blood and bad racehorse", IMO, probably has a lot to do with not seeing as much flash in the past. We just figured out flash/chrome isn't a death sentence relatively recently.

Although...Tanya (1905 Belmont winner) had a lot of chrome.
Part of it too simply may be that we have access to a lot more photos of horses (both famous and obscure) than we used to.

I think a big part of it is DNA testing. Before DNA testing, if two solid colored horses had a foal that was mostly white, people wouldn't believe the foal's parentage - the mare must have been bred by a non-thoroughbred. Now we know that a genetic mutation can give two solid-colored parents a white foal.

One example is the palomino thoroughbred, Milkie (officially registered as light chestnut); he was definitely sired by Deer Lodge, because Deer Lodge sired foals with a distinctively shaped foot and Milkie had that foot.

I suspect other foals weren't registered by the JC because there was no way of proving their parentage, and the genetics of horse color weren't well known.

If there is interest in me figuring it out, perhaps someone can outline a quick tutorial on the proper steps to post photos? My technologically adept daughter is unavailable.
OK, here goes - instructions received from Ballerina quite some time back:

Save the pictures you want to your computer picture file.

Go to http://tinypic.com/index.php
Gonna STRONGLY recommend http://www.imgur.com as Catalina stated, this is an old post, and tinypic isn't a great host. However, the basic idea is the same, and these instructions are roughly correct for using imgur, as well (it's fairly straight forward). Thanks, Cat.
