He wasn't the best that Coolmore ever had, but more and more I am finding Camelot to be my favourite that Ballydoyle has turned out, besides St Nicholas Abbey. He's looking to be a decent sire as well.
I was worried that Coolmore would make Camelot one of their National Hunt sires, but I don’t think that will happen now. I will always wonder what kind of sire SNA would have been, though.

I had the exact same thought, especially when it was announced that superstar hurdling mare Annie Power was covered by him just before she retired. It looks like he'll continue to be a Coolmore flat sire who also produces some useful jumps horses.

As of now, his fee is about 30k too expensive to attract the common NH breeder, but he has a very promising juvenile hurdler in Sir Erec, who won a maiden hurdle at Leopardstown on Thursday and is now favourite for the Triumph Hurdle for juveniles (horses who were 3 at the start of the jumps season) at Cheltenham.

Sir Erec started his career at Ballydoyle with O'Brien snr and was owned by the Coolmore partners. Since the British Long Distance Cup in October, he has been sold to Coolmore associate and top jumps owner JP McManus and is now trained by O'Brien jnr.

As for SNA, he really could have been anything. He was best at 1 1/2 miles, which could make him a decent jumps sire, but he also had an electric turn of foot that made him deadly when he was on his game. Unless it was a right handed track, he never really was his best going that direction.

This is not, strictly speaking, a pure head shot, but it is an incredible, fun, head-on shot of the very athletic California Chrome. I can almost hear the boing-boing from those springy legs,

What a delight! He was one horse I was wondering about how he was going to transition from a race horse to breeding stallion. Looks like he adjusted just fine and is thriving!

And the race is on......

WAR EMBLEM and Michael Blowen racing at @Oldfriendsfarm a few days ago.
Even if Michael gets a head start, WAR EMBLEM alwayssss wins. And gets carrots. So, win-win.

War Emblem looks very happy! :D :D :D

Big fluffy boy alert!

Wonderful to see that he's settled somewhat and has made a friend.

He seems happy at Old Friends. It's a good situation for him. No one is expecting anything of him. People can see him, but he's basically left alone.

I visited Old Friends in spring of 2016 and saw War Emblem from afar. He has definitely put on weight since then, but he looks happier here.

Here's a really gorgeous shot of California Chrome in the snow. The photo was taken by a Japanese photographer on a visit to Taylor Made, Jan. 30, 2019. It was retweeted by TM on their website.

I like the way Heart's Cry's forelock is parted in the middle. Very fashionable. :)

I think it was just the wind tbh... Orfevre got a haircut tho, his Barbie locks are shorter & redder. His tail is still nice & long and blonde, fortunately.

I'm always impressed by how the "Halo eyes" have continued through the generations.

Frankly, I'd rather be stared down by a Great White Shark or a jaguar.
