Died this morning in training accident. Will save the nasty comments about training in that weather out of respect for this warrior of a horse. Condolences to Repole. Will find out about the exercise rider when I head to track later.

What a kick to the solar plexus. How much fun did that horse provide to how many audiences?!~ So sad.

Six Drivers was loose on the track.

I am absolutely gutted. Caixa was a long-time favourite of mine.

Six Drivers, also now dead, was loose on the track; it was still dark, as I understand it. Don't think weather had much to do with it.

I remember watching Pletcher and Repole from outside the winner's circle when Caixa won the True North from out of the clouds. Don't think I've ever seen Pletcher smile that much and Repole couldn't stop petting the horse- it was clear how much they loved him. Awful news, just a total gut-punch.

EDIT: “Growing up in Queens these are the horses that I fell in love with, not the Saturday horses, but the Wednesday and Thursday horses,” Repole said. “Caixa was that type of horse that turned into a special horse.”

He sure was. Feel so bad for his connections.

Such a damn sad thing to hear this early in the year (or for any time for this reason). I'm sure the outriders did their best, must have been a horrible scene. RIP and hope the jockeys are not seriously hurt.

I'm truly devestated by this news. I just loved this horse, and I feel absolutely terrible for his connections that loved him so. RIP Caixa.

Sure does make it hard to love this sport, to hear the bad with all the good, no matter who the horse is. And that's for us folks sitting at our homes not experiencing the real scene. I don't know how those folks can move on with their day after something like this. They are the real dedicated people. Hoping they find closure for all those who witnessed and those involved with both horses.
