For those who may need a respite from the insane world of thoroughbred racing, you may add to the list of zebras, camels, ostriches - et al, the lowly (pun intended) Bassett hound. Tomorrow (9/15/19) is the inauguration of the annual Bassett hound races at Fort Erie, and it looks as if they have full cards. Being a champion of the War Horse or rather War Dog , I'll be pulling for 12yo BillyBob in Race 3. Over the years, I've wagered on many a horse that would have had their hands (hooves) full in a contest with a Bassett. Hope everyone has fun...

I imagine ear length is an important angle when it comes to handicapping the hounds.

Man, that is really just too cute. Those ears. Dogs are great.

I hope the track will be sealed for them to run! When our... vertically challenged dogs run around in our arena after we ride, a deep hoofprint in the sand can cause quite the pile up! :lol:
