Its about time for another Excel spreadsheet....

The start of the fall season at New York’s Belmont Park is off to a tragic start with three horse deaths recorded during the first two days.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/more-s ... spartanntp

The database shows that 68 horses have died at various New York tracks since racing started this year on Jan. 2 at Monticello Raceway.

Twenty-five of those deaths have occurred at Belmont Park, home of the third leg of horse racing’s Triple Crown.
I've found it easier to tear up tickets at 8/1 instead of 8/5.

It’s actually 4 now in a week. Deft broke down racing yesterday.

Where's Joe Drape when we need him?

Seems that he needs to update his June interview if Belmont has had 26 deaths this year ......

Curious....when you walk into the plant at Belmont, are the sign carrying PETA folks standing outside?

How about local mainstream news stations, do they report on the 26 deaths so far this year?

thanks.

Just a guess on my part.....none of the 26 dead horses at Belmont belonged to Baffert?

How about Hollendorfer?

Found a spreadsheet somebody already started, not sure why lameness is combined with euthanasia, but it's a work in progress.

https://data.ny.gov/widgets/q6ts-kwhk

Notables include, but are not limited to:
CHRISTOPHE CLEMENT
KIARAN P. MCLAUGHLIN
JEREMIAH C. ENGLEHART
GARY C. CONTESSA
KENNETH G. MCPEEK

That’s not a spreadsheet that someone started - that’s the official NYRA database for break downs and injuries, including racing and training incidences, such as riders being unseated, etc. It’s a great resource when it’s updated in a timely fashion.

I guess what NYRA is missing out on is having a Belinda Stronach at the helm who would invite PETA to the crisis roundtable discussion to help get things resolved.

Tracks probably need to be dug up and reconfigured. Medical records need scrutinizing. Licenses probably need to be suspended and fines assessed.

Either that, or horse racing deaths east of the Mississippi aren't worthy of discussion?

Do you... like... want Belinda's number or something? You seem... really into her.

Have you tried DMing on instagram?

I don't need her, NYRA does!

Why does the west coast have such a chip on it's shoulder? Do you want more horses to break down at Belmont so racing has more bad publicity?

NY media is heavily focused on baseball and the sad state of our football teams right now. I'm sure some local media has this but in the tri state area there are 900 things that compete for our attention daily. Racing barely registers.

The obsession with Czarina is sexist at best.

Seems to me that east coast based racing fans become anxious for a public flogging when something goes wrong on the west coast, eg 26 deaths in the current year at one track. But when the problem is in their own backyard, well, they don't have time or interest in that sort of news.

26 is way more than 4, and 4 is still more than it should be. How do we have no interest? Not all of us have the luxury of the extreme amount of free time that you have.

There's also no local media reporting on it. If it continues into next week I'm sure that will change.

I'm glad that 26 deaths don't matter to you anyway, just as long as you get to stick it to the East Coast.

Personal (totally unnecessary imho) attack coming from somebody with 7700+ posts on this forum, now that's rich!

I'm "afraid" to look at Belmont. After how I was cluelss for the entire Sar meet......I played on paper and still couldn't hit side of a barn.
It was almost astonishing how I couldn't hit ANY winners practically. I'm not that good to begin with, but I'm not as bad as my ROI for that meet.

Unfortunately, Belmont has another death. Linda Rice-trained Rhode Island broke down Saturday and was euthanized.

Is this all morning or afternoon stuff? Not that it matters. Life is choatic these days and I haven't been paying attention too much.

Still no local media reporting on any of it as far as I know. But I might be wrong. A lot of the local papers I can think of are linked to cable networks and +1 streaming.

Anybody know if this is more of Frank owned part of the business or is this Belinda?

I'm confident that it's safe to say it's a prime example of bias in the media these days.
The infamous Joe Drape didn't even write the story for his own newspaper!!!
