I’m not sure if this doesn’t belong in the Breeding forum now, but Lane’s End dropped HC’s stud fee to $30,000. I know he doesn’t have a stakes winner, but isn’t that discouraging ? Does that mean that HC is no longer in demand?
Not surprised by that drop at all.
I think this coming year will be a much more telling test for him, seeing as he was better as an older horse.
Even Tonalist has been ahead of him on the 1st Crop Sire List all year. Another better older horse, stood for a fraction of HC's fee, and would have seen far lesser mares.

I don't think it is discouraging, it's realistic. He's had a good, not great, start, and they can't justify a fee increase or keeping it the same until he gets some stakes winners.

If he was no longer in demand, he wouldn't be at Lane's End standing for $30,000. He covered 138 mares in 2019 so I wouldn't panic yet.
I certainly wasn’t thinking increase, but I thought he might stay the same. Actuality I hadn’t thought much about it, lol,

Good points, thanks !

Yes, he sure was better as an older horse.....I had huge hopes for him nonetheless, and they’re still high. I guess there’s no point worrying about his stud fee at this point; I’ll just keep rooting for his offspring. If they do well, his stud fee will take care of itself

For comparison.

Tonalist's fee was $15K this year, and for 2020 its the same. He's 12 on the First-Crop list. No stakes horses.

Honor Code's was $40K this year, and $30K for 2020. He's 14 on the First-Crop list. No stakes horses.

Liam's Map gets an increase from $20K to $35K for 2020. He's currently 4 on the First-Crop list, and has two G1 winners.

Hmm, that's interesting that they left Tonalist at that price - and probably a good idea. If he continues on, which we don't know that he will, his stud fee will increase at some point.

I'm hoping that Honor A.P. will run in the Los Alamitos Futurity - maybe HC will get his SW there.
