Summer Bird posted above. Very impressive--is Eight Rings still superior as they stretch out? Watch this space! (I'm going to Del Mar for the Futurity--love the relaxed vibe and the chance to see a really good two year old. Thinking about the problematical Other Baffert, Garth.)
I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.

Yep, I posted about Express Train a couple comments up. I even posted a foal photo of him since I worked with him when he was a baby. I can’t read the DRF article, but it looks like he will be pointed to the American Pharoah Stakes.

Duh. Sorry about that. Anyway, yes, he's a super exciting prospect. It will be interesting when he and Eight Rings hook up down the road.

Yes hopefully we’ll get to see in the American Pharoah. It should be a good match up if they do meet again

Impressive win by Three Technique (Mr. Speaker) in Saratoga's 7th race. Came flying at the end and won by 5 I think.

Yup. I believe they said she's out of an Arch mare. No wonder she ran down Inspiressa, who beat her easily at 5 1/2 but has a pedigree that starts gasping thereafter.

2 yr old filly Orsay (American Pharoah - Life At Ten) scratched before the 8th race. Oops!

There's 2 photos in the Twitter link above ^^ Apparently her and Irad were fine.

I had been wondering if American Pharoah's all had his calm temperament and this answered that LOL

At least she did her best to jump over her fallen rider... and not step on him. ;)

There were multiple late scratches yesterday. And another horse that urinated on the track. I figure they sensed the oncoming hurricane or something, because the horses were flipping out all day long.

To be fair Life at Ten had her moments.

The Hopeful has to be downgraded soon right.

The Del Mar Futurity (G1) was a cluster. Heavy favorite Eight Rings dumped the jock and caused the 1 horse to lose his rider. Both horses are okay, but DVD is being taken to the hospital. Nucky (35-1) won, but had to survive a claim of foul.

And Garth, the other Baffert, ran like he bled. Pre-race I thought at 4-1 post-race I’d party on. Now it looks like if I don’t lay off this guy I’ll end up with friends in low places. Crazy race.

Pletcher and Team Valor's colt Gouverneur Morris makes a striking debut. Same family as Frosted and Midshipman.

I don't see why the Hopeful would be downgraded; I thought the field was very good this year. It's unfortunate that the rain caused Green Light Go to scratch, but the race featured two graded stakes winners and three very nice maiden winners from the meet. I think Basin is a very promising horse, and the horse he beat last out, Three Technique, was an excellent winner on Saturday. Certainly the field was a lot better than the Del Mar Futurity, which had one ungraded stakes winner and two maidens.

I think the real 2yo star of the long weekend was Gouverneur Morris, however. Pedigree says five starts at best, but he looked amazing. The other star was Into Mischief, who had ten 2yo runners at Saratoga in the past three days. And half of them could be ringers for each other. Crazy.
