Royal Ascot 2019
I understand why they don't have "ponies" but I think it's weird they don't have one or two outriders for situations like this.

There is an element of humor about the whole thing for sure, but i was surprised they don't have outriders--- that certainly could have beencarole wrote: ↑Wed Jun 19, 2019 1:15 pmShow Me Show Me broke through the gate before the start of the Windsor Castle and ran down the track, when they tried to catch him he took off back towards the stalls. He finally cantered back down towards the finish line and was caught but maybe here in the UK we should think about getting outriders, could have been a dangerous situation.
ETA: Thought it was funny that the horse started grazing when waiting to be caught the 2nd time around. Must have thought 'job done, time for a snack'![]()
a very dangerous situation.
Here's the video of Show Me Show Me having a grand time:

Johnny V has been suspended nine days for overuse of the whip; unclear whether that will affect any upcoming mounts at this meet.
I thought Kimari ran a remarkable race on that ground. In some of the larger fields, horses towards the back came back looking like they'd run on mud. So nothing to be held against Sea of Class there; all the European money went heavily away from her and towards Waldgeist as the race approached. I'm finding it really challenging and enjoyable to comb through all of the bookmaker odds and overseas analysis- oddschecker.com is a godsend, especially because they show the silks and it can be really hard to tell horses apart on the stream.
Greatly enjoying the week so far, and I'm looking forward to seeing Maven run tomorrow! Ward seems to be really high on him, and that's a good sign.

It sometimes drives me crazy that neither the European nor the Japanese courses have outriders. Show Me Show Me didn't just canter around the grass; when that bunch of people near the start tried to catch the colt by waving their arms at him, he shied away and ran into the fence. He was slipping while he was swerving around, and could have easily injured himself.
Outriders, my good chaps. Because every once and a while we Yanks have some good ideas.

Tough week for Ward having the very tough beat with Kimari, and now Maven is out:Tessablue wrote: ↑Wed Jun 19, 2019 3:18 pmI thought Kimari ran a remarkable race on that ground. In some of the larger fields, horses towards the back came back looking like they'd run on mud.

Drat! Unclear to me from that article whether it was solely because of the going. If so, that's a shame. Kimari ran so well today under those conditions.Starine wrote: ↑Wed Jun 19, 2019 8:32 pmTough week for Ward having the very tough beat with Kimari, and now Maven is out:Tessablue wrote: ↑Wed Jun 19, 2019 3:18 pmI thought Kimari ran a remarkable race on that ground. Frankie Dettori has gone 3 for 3 at Royal Ascot today, if I heard correctly.
The Norfolk was won by A'Ali.
The Ribblesdale was won by Star Catcher.

Frankie also won on Sangarius in the Hampton Court. It's Frankie's world and we're just livin' in it.

Stradivarius sure is somethin'.

For Stradivarius' Gold Cup win, his groom received a gift from the Queen on the trophy stand. That's has to be even better than getting your name in print.
I think Her Majesty was the first person that didn't get one of Frankie's exuberant cheek kisses.
Too bad he didn't get that fifth win in the Britannnia, but he sure gave 2nd-place Turgenev every chance.

f**k yeah.
He loves Ascot and it's a relatively light field in this year's Jubilee, why not give it a go. I also read that the over-hyped and under performing Le Brivido will also be running in the Jubilee after finished 5th in the Queen Anne over a mile on Tuesday. Not sure how he will run but it definitely makes the race more interesting.

Japan was impressive, and I could tell that the handsome colt was a Galileo without even looking up his pedigree.
Frankie got his 7th win in the Commonwealth Cup.
