I'm so happy that the late, great Giant's Causeway left us with such a good son from late in his stallion career. I know B&M is a bay, but there's something about his face and the way he runs that reminds me a lot of his sire.
There may be a few top 3yos missing (like Max' and 'House), but I agree we're seeing the best older horses in training on today's card.

Going on looks alone, it’s hard to choose between Tacitus and WoW.
Favorite winners of the day:
World of Trouble -- He's so, so good. I don't know if there is anyone in this country who can beat him going under a mile, regardless of surface.
Guarana -- I had been hearing about this impressive maiden winner and she absolutely is the real deal.

oh yes.... World of Trouble is very impressive indeed!
Hog Creek Hustle more like... Hurt... These... Horizontals.
Rushing Fall, Midnight Bisou, World of Trouble, Mitole, and Bricks and Mortar are arguably the best five horses in this country right now. Certainly tops in their divisions. Throw McKinzie in there too, Thunder Snow is damn good, and Guarana/Sir Winston/Tacitus all have a chance to end this year as champions. What a day. Couldn't even begin to pick a favorite.

Marconi (Tapit half to Mucho Macho Man) won the Brooklyn Invitational after leading almost every step of the way. Time: 2.28.97.
Today’s winners for the most part are the leaders of their division... aside from Sir Winston. 3-year-old boys are anyone’s guess. Is Omaha Beach ever coming back?
I think Tacitus is the clear front runner now, at least in my eyes. Two graded stakes wins and two TC placings, plus he's a classic Jim Dandy/ Travers horse. He was also probably best today and people will remember it. I suspect he'll be the leader in the next 3yo poll.
Sir Winston I think is a genuinely nice horse, but he just wants to go as long as possible so I'm not sure the rest of the year shakes out as favorably for him. But I'm looking forward to seeing him at 10f, and he and Tacitus may have developed a nice little rivalry. A lot to still look forward to this year!

Finally got a replay and checked some conversations online, and I'm really surprised by the lack of love I'm seeing for Mitole. Yeah, McKinzie didn't have room to run in the stretch, but he also saved ground along a good rail while rating off of a brutal pace. Mitole set that pace while contesting between horses, then turned back multiple challengers in the stretch to win comfortably while trying a mile for the first time. And he did that all against that field. Had/if McKinzie had gotten out earlier and nipped him, I can guarantee everyone would be talking about how Mitole didn't deserve to lose right now.
Mitole is an absolute freak and I can't wait to see what he does next.

Agreed. He ran huge! I’m also not convinced McKinzie would have ever got by him, he looked like he would go on.Tessablue wrote: ↑Sun Jun 09, 2019 1:01 amFinally got a replay and checked some conversations online, and I'm really surprised by the lack of love I'm seeing for Mitole. Reading comments like these from one of the figure makers always make me wonder how subjective they are?katmandu wrote: ↑Sat Jun 08, 2019 11:52 pmBSFs per ThinAir:

This is the most outrageous "big day" gold rail since the 2006 Breeders' Cup.
.....
Yesterday's track is still very much in play at Belmont. For a surface that's VERY rarely inside speed biased, this is extremely annoying.
.....
If there is going to be a bias breaker, it will be right here as it now seems like a certainty that Much Better, Complexity and Landeskog will be sent to the lead. Honest Mischief figures to get a perfect trip just in behind the pace. I'm hoping Barracho can rally inside.
I've found it easier to tear up tickets at 8/1 instead of 8/5.

Marconi closed out the big day with a win in the 12-furlong Brooklyn.

Considering Marconi, Tacitus (2nd in Belmont) and all the Belmont winners by him, it looks like Tapit has turned out to be a reliable source of stamina in American TBs.
I'm not sure we would have guessed that when he retired.
