Holy shit.
I've found it easier to tear up tickets at 8/1 instead of 8/5.

Is this condition similar to a flipped palate?

I hope PETA is paying attention as to how most in the industry put horses first over gazillions of dollars.

I was crushed but happy they made the right decision for the horse. A little “tie-back” and he’ll be good to go. I hope!

Very disappointing. He was my second choice and was anxious to see how he'd do. The silver lining for me is that my longshot I wanted to bet to get into the exotics at a big price, Bodexpress will now get his chance. Yes, I know he's a maiden, and I know he and Max. Sec. had it easy last time, but his Beyers are improving more than anyone in the race.

He was my top pick.... Have to really feel for his owner and trainer, both of whom are getting along in years. On the positive side he should be able to come back as good if not better than ever and hopefully be able to run in a lot of big races during the second half of the year.

Would the draw reins he has been in for some training sessions possibly have contributed to the entrapment?

I don't think Mike should regret picking Omaha Beach over Roadster. It's not like he can predict OB will be scratched. It's not personal. But it would sting a little if he watched Roadster win the roses. Just a little. He did win the Triple Crown last year so he'll get over it real quick.

I don't see much pace in this race anymore. Last year, I knew Promises Fulfilled and Flameaway were fast. The former set the pace at 46 flat. This year's might end up like the Florida Derby. I would laugh if the exacta is the same...

Maximum Security 1st, Bodexpress 2nd

It can be like the 2002 Kentucky Derby where the Top 3 stay the same from pretty much start to finish. Good news for Max supporters like me while the casual betttors are all over one of the Baffert horses.

The 6-race winning streak of the Derby chalk ends this year by the #7.

I'm not a vet, but in all of the years I have used draw reins, I have never had or heard of a horse get a trapped epiglottis from them.

It's pretty common in Thoroughbreds, and in a lot of jurisdictions, wind op/tie back surgery is listed on the horse's PPs/race record. Hopefully he recovers 100%, and hopefully the ink was already dry on that pre-Derby stud deal with Spendthrift.
