ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. - Edward “E.T.” Baird’s jockey’s license has been revoked by stewards at Arlington.

In an official ruling dated Sept. 13, 2019, Baird was cited for violation of Illinois Racing Board rule 508.30 B, whereby a licensed individual is to be suspended for refusing to submit to a stewards’ request to take a breathalyzer test. Baird was penalized under rule 508.40 D, fourth violation of the breathalyzer test rule, which mandates license revocation.

Isn't that a nice thought? Hard to imagine anyone with ties to Man o' War in the year 2019.

That's what I was thinking! He just seems so...ancient and untouchable. He was apparently a teen when he rode him though, and I think Man O War was in retirement actually.

The article says Man O' War was standing in his stall, long retired, when Will Harbut gave him a leg up and let him sit bareback on the horse. He was the only person beside's MOW's exercise rider and jockey to ever sit on him.

So was he Man O' War's regular rider/did he actually 'ride' the horse in work? No. Was he still technically the last person to ride Man O' War? Yes. Is it still an awesome and life-defining moment? Of course!

I had a bad fall working a horse this morning @keenelandracing and unfortunately broke my sternum. Looks like I’ll be out for a while. Thank god it wasn’t worse and the horse is ok too
