Bellafina had to do more work than last time, but showed she has some grit. Track may have been not to her liking. I want to see her win outside CA, but She’s staying home for the SA Oaks.

Really nice field. Also includes grade I winners Marley's Freedom and Dream Tree, and grade II winners Selcourt, Mopotism and Escape Clause.

I hope that there are more folks around here watching this fine filly. Late Night Pow Wow won her 9th in a row yesterday, and would be 12 for 12 if she had not just missed in a race last April. Really fun to watch.

I've been paying attention to LNPW. I think there's a Grade 1 win in her future.

A Grade 1 jock isn't likely to open the gates along the rail and let her have that kind of perfect trip in a Grade 1. Regardless, they're not often being won with 93 Beyers. She'll need to get faster.

Sad to hear about this heavy favorite's last place finish in the Fair Grounds Oaks...I've been very high on her.

Slow start, pretty wide, and probably could've won by more. What a classy girl.

Monomoy Girl Recovering from Mild Case of Colic
The Eclipse Award-winning filly Monomoy Girl is recovering from a mild case of colic that is expected to sideline her for about three weeks and will prevent her from making her eagerly awaited 4-year-old debut May 3 in the $500,000 La Troienne Stakes (G1) at Churchill Downs.

According to trainer Brad Cox, the Kentucky-bred daughter of Tapizar exited a van ride from Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots to Churchill last week with an upset stomach, then received several days of treatment at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital in Lexington for dehydration.

Monomoy Girl is now recovering at WinStar Farm near Versailles, Ky., and will be re-evaluated next week to determine when she will resume training. Cox hopes to have her back in his barn by May 1.

"It's unfortunate," Cox said. "The timing is not good, but it is what it is and we have to put the horse first."

Cos said the $700,000 Ogden Phipps Stakes (G1) at Belmont Park June 8 may be a "possibility" for Monomoy Girl's season debut because she has not lost much fitness in the last week, but added that he will not decide on her next start until "she puts in a good (five-furlong workout)."

From Nicole Russo:
"AAEP on-call rep Dr. Bryce Howard says Cathedral Reader suffered a "pretty severe" front limb injury. She's on her way back to the backstretch to be evaluated. Will update as we know more."

Fingers crossed but it looked awful :(
