According to this Paulick article, Anothertwistafate now has 38 Points. Most years, that's enough to get in, but I don't know about this year.

He is listed at #21st spot on the Kentucky Derby's webpage, with the Arkansas Derby still to be ran. But he has more than #19 Omaha Beach (37.5) and is tied in points with #18, Signalman (who has more Graded Stakes earnings). Not really sure how they account for 1/2 points. Do they round up? Its the only reason I can see Omaha Beach being ahead of him.

Is Master Fencer guaranteed a spot? I don't remember how this works.
I don't even know why CDI cares about international participant-ship anyway.

Yes. The European and Japan Road To The Derby series point leaders are both guaranteed a spot if they choose to come. The European point leader is not coming though, as they would have to pay a $200,000 nomination fee.Somnambulist wrote: ↑Sat Apr 13, 2019 6:36 pmIs Master Fencer guaranteed a spot? And yes Curtis is correct, its about money. By getting International horses to come, it peaks International interest and CDI is hoping for more bettors.

Have you ever seen the figures for Japanese or Chinese wagering?
I can understand why CDI would try to entice those fans to put some of that humongous pile o' money on a horse in which they have a home-grown interest.

They give an mostly automatic berth to the UAE participants, too. I don't know if Japanese money has contributed terribly to the pools?BaroqueAgain1 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 13, 2019 6:43 pmI don't even know why CDI cares about international participant-ship anyway.

I wonder if there was a bump for Lani? He was very popular with Japanese fans, so that year may have given some evidence of increased wagering from Japan...or not.

IIRC there was a bump in wagering for the 2016 Crown in its entirety, with the bulk of it coming from the Belmont, but I could be wrong.BaroqueAgain1 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 13, 2019 6:52 pmI don't know if Japanese money has contributed terribly to the pools?

They gotta keep Sheikh Mo happy. Even if it’s not one of his horses who wins the UAE Derby, it’s still recognition of his track and big racing day.Somnambulist wrote: ↑Sat Apr 13, 2019 6:47 pmThey give an mostly automatic berth to the UAE participants, too. I said we'd have to see how we felt today, but I'm not sure how to feel about the Lexington. Owendale looked realy good, but from glancing at the charts it certainly looks as though wide closing moves were very good today and Twist really had to wait for his run. But I really didn't like all of the lead swapping he did coming out of the turn and at the wire.
I'm still a bit interested in him if he gets in, and I think he will. Would be very surprising if there are zero defections from now until Derby day.
Intersted to see what figure the race gets, and I was very happy to see Sueno run well and back up the form of the Louisiana Derby a bit.

I've found it easier to tear up tickets at 8/1 instead of 8/5.
Sometimes they become chronic. They can take several months, could be as much as a year, to completely grow out. They’re only an issue if they’re an issue. If you ever saw a close-up shot of Big Brown’s feet, you’d wonder how he even walked.

Nitrous continues his upswing, taking the Bachelor Stakes at Oaklawn. He's turning into a nice sprinter/miler type.

~ Nice, sizable field here assembled. Should be a good one! Hopefully we see HB in the Preakness.
