I burst into tears in the homestretch
I'm shaking! He did it! The time was slow and the margin wasn't super wide. Very good call those who said Restoring Hope would act as a shield - he prevented others from coming up to challenge Justify. It looked for a moment like Bravazo would but RH closed off his path.
Biggest shocker to me was Gronkowski though - WOW what a run!

Amazing. I’m so happy for Mike Smith.

That was me too but I was worried they'd come at him so it wasn't until two-three strides from the wireCoronadosQuest wrote:I burst into tears in the homestretch

Whoooooo!
Effin' beautiful. I already knew he had it in the bag once 1:38 clicked. I was already jumping up and down celebrating when there was still a quarter of a mile left. It's like Trotter at the end of Let It Ride. You just know it.
I'll never forget this Triple Crown run. One I'll cherish for life. Citation's 70th, Secretariat's 45th, Affirmed's 40th. Justify is right there with them all.

Omg, my dog thought I was crazy yelling at the TV. Awesome horse. Really Happy for Mike Smith too.

Well, having missed all the fun, I guess I can go look for a video now (I'm vacationing in the UK). But truth be told, I'm more tickled about Hoppy!
I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.
I'm not hot on the owners and I'm not hot on the trainer getting a double... But I am SO happy for Mike Smith and I am unbelievably thrilled for the late Scat Daddy. And what an incredible colt Justify is" Money, Power... and now Glory.
A little bittersweet for my fave Seattle Slew I selfishly loved that he was the only undefeated TC winner.
And above all else, I am over the moon for Bal, Katewerk and all those who believed in him from the start!
(As a side note... I said after Pharoah won... "they come in 3s" I half anticipated that there'd be more TCs this decade).

Yep, and I kind of feel the same about Seattle Slew, my all-time favorite. But nothing lasts forever. Really good to know Scat Daddy's genes are all good in Justify.Treve wrote:I'm not hot on the owners and I'm not hot on the trainer getting a double... I can't help but think of Prairie Bayou--the Belmont gods owed Mikey.

The opening two quarters were a bit too strong.
But he settled down the pace swiftly.
