Impressed with Bob’s Spanish. I wonder how many trainers who are non- native speaking also speak Spanish?

We got Baffert at LAX earlier this week, and he told our camera guy the Triple Crown winner isn't in Justify's company at all, because Baffert -- who trained both horses -- thinks Justify is better.

"He's a superior horse," Bob says. "And he's come really quick. He's done it a little bit quicker than Pharoah."
Gads, consider the source. BB did NOT say Justify was a better horse than AP, the "he's a superior horse" is what he's said all along about the horse and is not relative to AP, but to racehorses in general. And yeah, he's done it "quicker" than AP, because, ummm, he didn't start at 2. But it's not in the context that he did it quicker than AP because he's a better horse.

And to think some people suck this stuff up with a straw.

Not too sure about the Belmont though to be honest, while I can't think of any horse in particular that is able to beat him quality wise, I still don't know how he will do if he has to run longer and I also fear that with the frequent races now he might lose his head a bit and then get cooked in a speed duel in the Belmont (sort of what happened to Smarty Jones). On the other hand.... American Pharoah did just fine winning it wire to wire. Anyway, let's get over the Preakness hurdle first.
Every TC winner has done so winning their Belmont wire to wire, as an interesting bit of history/trends.

Probably similar to the restaurant business, the backstretch requires it from management.

Most know quite a bit of spanish, esp. if they were in the QH world for a while, or they also come from both breeding and training backgrounds. There's a lot of personnel on farms, and on the backside, and you hve to be able to talk to them. Baffert has a huge number of Mexican and Latin American workers ....

Cash Asmussen speaks FLUENT Spanish and French, as well as English. Michelle Nihei speaks fluent spanish, many others I have heard .... I bet most do.

What he actually said was "He's a superior horse, just like American Pharoah." Meaning he is a superior to other horses, not AP.

I''m just going to enjoy this win and not worry about the Belmont right now. That was a brave race by a heckuva horse who has done something unprecedented.

Love seeing him dancing back to the barn while the armchair trainers and vets are posting that he's exhausted, gutted, nose dragging on the ground. Someone forgot to run that script by him.

Baffert talked about his quick recovery time.

You were both encouraged by that finish?

I'm not sure who is saying their opinion is fact. Its merely speculation. A lot of us here and in general have experience in and around horses.

It's this level of haha all the questioners are so wrong that make it difficult to want this horse to do well. It's racing. This sport is not kind to fairy tales.
