I know that there is a topic for names somewhere, but I just couldn't find it. So...a new one for 2016. :P

I was watching Australian racing last night, and at one of the provincial tracks (Sale) there was a nice filly named Ay Oh Whey Oh running in a maiden race....she lost by a narrow margin. I was wondering about her name until I noticed her dam's name was Walklikeanegyptian...then it made sense. :)

Conquest Stables ran a son of Gio Ponti in the 8th at Gulfstream yesterday (last, unfortunately), and that combination of factors gave us Conquestportaponti. :?

A Standardbred named Whataorse has been competing at The Meadows, near Pittsburgh, for a few years now. It's not an Irish name. Pronounce it "What a 'orse!"!

BOMBS AWAY!

Conquest Portaponti says it's time for number 2, his 2nd race that is. Portaponti will be dropping in to Gulfstream Park on April 9th for Race 6 at 3:40 PM ET from Post 6. Jonathan J. Gonzales will be in the irons and has been provided with a gas-mask and a super-soaker filled with febreeze!

So make sure to tune in because Portaponti has the runs!... Eww, get your mind out of the toilet, we just mean he likes to run!

Their names are horrendous, but goodness Conquest's social media is second to none. Between the photoshopped pics, the puns, and the engagement they have with their followers, I can't help but like them.

Conquestportaponti just finished second in the 6th at Gulfstream. Almost got there for the win. Looks like he might be a nice grass horse for Conquest.

Lol you guys might not have heard this story over in America but there was a competition in the UK to name a Royal Research Ship and the name that was voted as the top suggestion was Boaty McBoatface. Now it is unlikely that this name will be actually chosen for the ship, but some Aussies found it hilarious and they named their horse....

Horsey McHorseface!
