I actually believe she is also better than the 2 yo males.

Aaaaand I'm soooo proud of Valentina! What a great race by her too!

Congrats to V. That's a nice filly and should be even better next year.

Side note, Medaglia D'oro is such a great stallion. Throws good colts and fillies both, turf and dirt, short and long.

Congrats to V and Fox Hill Farm... how does it feel to be the owner of the Eclipse Award winning 2yo Champion filly ;) ? She's bar none the best 2yo in the country, better than the boys I have no doubt. I'll be dreaming of the Derby for her :)

Also I'm really happy Dothraki Queen came in third behind the top two, proving me right 8-)

100% agree. Keep thinking that I'd love to see her against the boys in 2016.

Nah. She's clearly much the best now but the boys will likely catch up over the winter. We'll see.

She's also liable to face a loooot more challenging trips in the future. I mean, she was perfect and made her own trip today, but she wouldn't get away with those fractions in a classic.

Still, what a lovely filly. Very exciting!

Depends I mean she is a MDO and her dam is out of a Deputy Minister mare... I don't know that she's peaked yet. The playing field might level out a little more but I certainly think she can be competitive.

Settle down with the Derby, let alone the triple crown talk.

Was this a qualifying points race?

Wow. That was impressive. Congrats to you, V, and Fox Hill Farm. Looking forward to seeing what Songbird does at 3.

Interesting "what if" question posed on Twitter.

What would Songbird sell for if she was in the sale Monday?

6m? 8m?

Gutted for Rachel's Valentina :( Missed the race, I thought it was much later! Ugh guess that's what you get when you don't properly convert the times to your time zone :(
I'm finding it hard to get behind Songbird, I don't even know why :/ It's the same with American Pharaoah for me

well.... its just fun to dream - I really would love to see a filly win the TC some day - and I do believe Songbird is the best 2yo in the country - its going to be fun to watch her next year!

She's just not as fast as Songbird early... when a horse goes into chase mode sometimes they quit. At least RV held on gamely for 2nd. Maybe she will bridge the gap next year.

Yeah I'm just being cheeky (ie it would be fun and if she went I would root for her, doesn't mean I think she would win, huge difference between wanting a horse to win and feeling assured that they would) - not being serious. It's my way of celebrating/congratulating :)

Carole, no need to be gutted for Rachel's Valentina, she was a game second and much the best of the rest of the field. I have no doubt she'll continue to improve.

I wouldn't be gutted for her. She just ran a nice race and cemented herself the second best juvenile filly in North America. No shame.
