I really like this horse, but connections are unlikeable to say the least.
Totally agree. I can see how some see Zayat finishing 2nd three times and also having Eskendreya scratch means that he is overdue and deserves to finally win the derby, but only a little digging and you see that the Zayat's are incredibly shady. If El Kabeir and Mr Z are unfit to run, I hope (but doubt) they will scratch, but in the case of American Pharoah, I wouldn't mind seeing him finish 2nd to a Mine that Bird type 8-)

So now which slot does AP go into?
There are other things that I could do, but there's really nothing that I love as much as horse racing. Chantal Sutherland

Still in the 17. All horses from the 1 to the 7 move out one. Good news for Ocho Ocho Ocho, Carpe Diem, and Materiality.

I mean, I know the answer, but still.

I don't have all the facts, none of us really do, but "foot issue" can mean anything and we all know the Zayats aren't great with some of the words that come out of their mouths lol. Horses take bad steps, step on things that cause temporary "lameness" and then are 100% the next day or even a few hours later. Humans do it too, step on a rock, hurts for a little while, and then it's like nothing happened. There's always more rumors than truth surrounding these Derby horses and I think people love finding more reasons to hate an owner, trainer, etc that they already dislike. But they did what was obviously best for the horse and scratched so it's pointless for anyone to debate and argue over it.

On another note, I like Victor, I like Baffert, and I really like Pharoah. For those rooting against American Pharoah just because they don't like the Zayats I think it's silly. Especially when you have a horse that looks as good as he has and we're all always crying we don't see great horses any more or a TC winner. But to each their own. I also really like a few others in the field so overall I'm just an excited fan this year. :P

Now we get to see if Z manages to bully Lukas. Should be interesting, anyway.

While unfortunate for EK, this is good news for the inside horses, especially the 1 - 3 posts that will now be in post positions 2 - 4.

So is El Kabeir's defection yet more proof of the jockey karma angle? Has there ever been a more powerful Derby trend? Also, how come we all forgot to talk about Johnny V's choice to stay on Carpe Diem over Materiality? That was such a huge story in 2013.

Carpe Diem is the more solid horse, IMO. There are a lot of questions surrounding Materiality. Also, IMO Carpe Diem is the better of the two at this point.
Maybe he likes Carpe Diem's sassy personality too?

This is interesting.

This is getting strange...I'm really curious to hear what's going on! Also, does that mean 20-13 move in?
