I've had some great times going to Las Vegas for the Derby, but that won't be happening this year.

The recently announced fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao is scheduled for the first Saturday in May, imagine the nerve of it all but there ain't nothin bigger than a title fight in Las Vegas.

Mayweather gets $120million and Pacquiao gets only $80million, and yes rooms will be renting for premium dollars and sold out!

I'm guessing that any "comp" offers I may have gotten just went up in smoke, kinda like NewYearsEve, huh?
I've found it easier to tear up tickets at 8/1 instead of 8/5.

Kentucky Derby Report - February 25th, 2015

The Fountain of Youth was one of three stakes races offering points toward a Kentucky Derby berth over the weekend (February 21-22) and the Gulfstream Park feature delivered plenty of controversy as Upstart (Flatter) wound up being disqualified, enabling the Todd Pletcher-trained Itsaknockout (Lemon Drop Kid) to remain unbeaten in his third career start.

Far From Over gains new co-owners, skips Gotham

Withers (G3) winner Far From Over (Blame) will skip Saturday's Gotham (G3) at Aqueduct and await the April 4 Wood Memorial (G1), after a private sale of a 25-percent interest in the Kentucky Derby (G1) hopeful was disclosed Sunday.

Since Stonestreet is involve with ownership of both Horses, Ocean Knight is being redirected to the Gotham Stakes. They don't want them to race against each other.
Change of Plans. Ocean Knight will start in the Tampa Bay Derby against Carpe Diem. Look like they'll worry about the weather in NY.
Hoist the Flag was the best horse I ever rode, by far... It wasn't Seattle Slew.

Doesn't it look like the Gotham would be ripe pickings for Daredevil? We know he loves a wet track.

Good Point. He was nominated too. This race is wide open especially with Ocean Knight out. Great chance to pick up Derby points.

Really looking forward to the Tampa Bay Derby now that Ocean Knight will be running:

“Barbara Banke and her team decided coming back to Tampa Bay Downs was the right thing to do, and I’m happy with the decision,” said McLaughlin, who added Ocean Knight will be shipped to Oldsmar the morning of the race from his Palm Meadows Training Center base in Boynton Beach, Fla.

“It’s a kind racetrack, the weather is supposed to be beautiful the next five days and he came out of the (Davis) real well, so we feel like going back to Tampa is a win-win for everybody.”

Especially for my Mom & little brother who live in St. Petersburg, the TB Derby is a pretty nice race now.

I was going to make a remark about "God's waiting room," but St. Pete has become pretty hip recently. :D

Kentucky Derby Report - March 4th, 2015

No points' races for the Kentucky Derby were offered last week but some interesting developments took place.

Dortmund to run, Far From Over to wait

Dortmund (Big Brown) became a new addition to the March 7 San Felipe (G2) field, with trainer Bob Baffert deciding not to wait for the April 4 Santa Anita Derby (G1) as originally planned following a victory in the February 7 Robert B. Lewis (G2).

Supposed to be around 80F for Saturday's Big Cap/San Felipe. Although there was heavy hail on the beaches Monday!
I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.
