Isn't there a million dollar bonus or something if he now wins the Pacific Classic & BC Classic?

Rome talks Shared Belief

Nationally prominent sports talk show host Jim Rome is part owner of Shared Belief, the unbeaten (five-for-five) 5-2 morning line favorite for Sunday's Grade 1, $1 million Pacific Classic. While vacationing last week in Europe with his family, Rome responded to some emailed questions from Del Mar officials.

I wonder what time he works? I should go over there and check him out one of these mornings. Oh, who am I kidding? I never get up that early.

Jim Rome posted a bath video of him being full of himself after his work yesterday. I would make sure to walk a good 15 feet behind him:

Is anyone still wondering why they gelded him?
IIRC, I think that ultimate equipment change was done before he started racing. I can't imagine what he would be pulling if he were still intact...but for starters, I suspect he wouldn't be an undefeated racehorse. :o

I wouldn't call that being full of himself. That looks more like 'pissed off at something' or 'uncomfortable' to me.

The way he was all too ready to fire with both rear legs reminded me of that video of Slim Shadey taken when he was still in Britain.
He was being walked with other entrants around the walking/saddling ring, and there was a man with a video camera (professional, judging by the size of the camera) standing on the inside of the ring. Slim walked past...and let go with both hind legs...one, two...and NAILED the camera right smack in the middle of the lens with his near-side leg. Knocked the cameraman flying...and it's a good thing there was a big camera between him and that flying head-high hoof, or he'd have been SOL.
Really tremendous accuracy...impressive. Not that I'd want to be on the receiving end.
Slim may have already been a gelding then. Suspect he's still not one to walk close behind.

Yeah, I'm familiar with that behavior. It pretty much means don't mess with me, not a happy feel good behavior. It doesn't necessarily mean anything is wrong, just that he isn't into the bath.

love the comment "i've been a farrier for 15 years and that's just how thoroughbreds are, no biggie." he looks very unhappy, not "on his toes". if that guy's a farrier i wouldn't want him around my horses.

That is pretty common behaviour. A lot of TBs don't like their bellies being touched. They are scrubbing around his sheath area pretty hard....he's trying to take out someone, cow kicks and all.
My OTTB was like that, my vet said it could be sensitivity down there due to ulcers. Who knows?

Some horses hate baths. *shrug* Nothing too unusual.

Thoroughbreds have notoriously thin skin, many are fussy being groomed/bathed. I did a bit of hotwalking/worked as a groom at Woodbine over the summer and to be honest behaviour like Shared Belief's is not that uncommon.
