Princess of Sylmar vs. Royal Delta...the winner ought to go to the Breeders Cup Classic

This is a massive test for Princess of Sylmar, though it is equally just as big for Royal Delta, if she handles Princess as dismissively as she did the competition in last year's Beldame, she is bound for the Classic IMO

I can't wait for the Princess to see Delta's tail. A long, LONG distance away. I am hopeful. If Royal Delta wins, she will go in the Distaff, where she belongs, in my opinion. The Classic's always been more of an afterthought for her.

Royal Delta does not always bring her A game but I do think that things are totally in her favor here. I think she will go to the front and improve her position. The Princess will likely need a better pace setup.

I think Princess of Sylmar is a nice filly, but I just don't think she is fast enough to catch Royal Delta.

Delta should obviously win with relative ease. Princess of Sylmar is at a virtually insurmountable disadvantage if Lady Cohiba and/or Roman Invader let Royal Delta have the front to herself, which they will. There's no Grade 1 blacktype to be earned for either if they lock in an early duel with the two-time defending champion. The last time Castellano took the Princess out of her element and put her a bit closer to the pace was the last time they lost a race and by the time she finds her best stride this go around, Delta will be gone if she runs anything like she's capable of. Tactically, Delta's edge is simply too severe.

If you like the Princess, those are some nice odds.

Excellent race by Princess of Sylmar... now if the connections choose not to nominate and go to the BC there is no problem with that, imo. They just beat the best in the division. Maybe Royal Delta was off today, but no excuses. She had the running style, the class, and the (possible) track bias in her favor.

I'm surprised. Oh well, Royal Delta is still on track for the Distaff and the best older mare in the country. They should both get their Eclipse awards. She's some 3yo, that Princess.

I am a big fan of both Princess of Sylmar and Beholder, but IMO it doesn't matter if Beholder wins the Zenyatta and the BC Distaff (you never know, she's 4 for 5 at SA), the Princess did the job today and gets the 3 year old Eclipse, for me, at least.

Just did a Wikipedia search on both the Alabama / Beldame double in the same year. It hasn't been done since Go For Wand (*sigh*).

I love Princess Sylmar and happy she won today. No disrespect to Royal Delta.
