We would like to officially announce that California Chrome will not be running in England on May 16th. We now have our sights set on the Prince of Wales Stakes on Wednesday, June 17, 2015. Raul and Alan will be traveling this weekend to Newmarket to see Chrome and we will be receiving a further update at that time. Thank you for your continued support as we try and get Chrome as strong as we can so he can excel at his race in England.
When I read that he had gotten two weeks off (and spent those two weeks pretty exhausted) I was wondering how in the hell they were hoping to be ready for the Lockinge. It sucks that they won't be able to get a prep race in, but it sounds like he is still really adjusting to the style over there, and it may just be safer (and less embarrassing) to train up to the Prince of Wales's

That was expected. The DWC and the shipping took a toll and he had to recharge his batteries first. And of course he runs into problems, cause it's much more demanding to canter uphill etc. He's used to run on a flat oval. I also don't think that they can get him ready for the Prince Wales in time. On the other hand if he comes back to the US he will be more fit than he was before. I basically view this whole Europe thing as vacation/training camp for him and don't expect him to do anything at all in the Prince Wales.

Not at all looking forward to the crowd that will show up on Million day for this. Which of course is not going to stop me from going.

ETA: Though with Shared Belief out of commission I'm not sure why they aren't going for the Pacific Classic instead.

I'm so confused.

So he is or isn't running in Europe.

Uhhhhhm.
Not a wholesome trottin' race, no, but a race where they sit down right on the horse!
Like to see some stuck-up jockey boy sittin' on Dan Patch? Make your blood boil? Well, I should say!

He is. The Million is two months after the Prince of Wales, almost exactly.

Yeah baby! I'm buying my tickets tonight! (It just happens that Million day falls on a milestone birthday for me)

Arlington needed a little boost. Looks like it got it.

With the dysfunction of these connections, can you really trust he'll show up in any race until he's standing in the starting gate? I'm just glad to know they aren't waiting to see how he fares, and how he comes out of his Ascot race, to plans past it. That feels way too logical, I guess.

I guess I'll have to breakdown and go out to Arlington. Sweltering heat isn't my thing. For Chrome, I will bear the discomfort.

Best news I have read lately, California Chrome WILL NOT stand stud in Japan but in Kentucky.

From Perry Martin himself in a Sports Illustrated article. Announcement will be made in a few weeks.
There have been rumors that California Chrome will be sent to Japan for his stallion career, but Martin says that won’t happen. “You’re going to hear an announcement from us in a week or two,” he says. “But he will stand in Kentucky. That’s where I want him.”

Article also mentions that Willie Delgado was fired after Dubai. It's a shame after having such a dynamite year in 2014 that Sherman is having such a hard time.

Didn't Delgado disappear during World Cup week?

The last couple times that I've been able to go were actually quite pleasant, weather-wise.

What a mess.

Most of us knew this was going take a toll on him, and he hasn't even run there yet and then he has to ship back to the U.S.
