Re: Money Pool for Hosting costs for a year

I already wrote you an email Catalina. Paypal won't let me cancel it either. :| Only option I have it to cancel the whole pool or collect it instantly and then transfer it back. I will of course transfer the 200 back to you. I won't collect it in the meantime either! The main problem is that is say...

Re: Money Pool for Hosting costs for a year

It was very easy to do! For those doing USD conversions, $1.00 = 0.89ish Euros. https://www.xe.com/currencyconverter/convert/?Amount=1&From=USD&To=EUR And then there's me, needing to ask Kurenai to walk my transaction back. Paying for the whole shebang had not been Plan A, but - arghhhh - case of f...

King Abdullah of Jordan is her brother. Just was saying that it wasn't like she was an american marrying into a middle eastern family with totally different customs. She herself is the offspring of King Hussein of Jordan ........with his "3rd wife". The daughter of a ruler, marrying a ruler. I susp...

I want to believe that $500 is too much for them to be worth shipping to slaughter.
<sigh...> 15 or 20 years ago, probably. Nowadays? There's far too many horses that sell for $600 at these auctions for that to be the case.

Re: Forum Hosting - Important Question

Kurenai,

If you would be willing to continue your current "janitorial" duties of running the forum, I would be interested in seeing this forum continue for another year, and will make a one-time contribution of $20 towards that goal.

Re: In Memoriam 2019

Brad Cox trainee Will Call has died...unknown what the circumstances are. Just that Cox racing has posted Will Call is gone CD race 9, he did finish the race next to last, "through after half". Sounds like they took him back to the barn and found an irreparable injury. RIP Will Call. Brief but love...

Unanimous approval for SA, it's official.
Dumb decision
Actually, IMO, the only sensible decision. Any fatality at a BC race other than at SA would instantly have doubled the number of tracks in imminent danger of being shut down. And SA does have a better safety record, even now.

Re: Santa Anita 2019

FWIW my trainer at the barn where I ride, who has a highly reputable source, said that a researcher was allowed to look at three of the horses/necropsies and all three were found to have the c6/c7 vertebral malformation. Between that and the bisphosphonates, it's a little scary to think of how wide...

Eh I don't really blame the doctors, everything just sounds worse when you're venting. The issue has bounced around between quite a few of them and I'm lucky enough to get care across a number of ridiculously good institutions. Unfortunately, it's just something that can't be confirmed either way w...

Thought I was getting minor surgery on Monday, but got a call today that it was canceled because I don't need surgery right now, but I might need major surgery in the future, because they probably identified what's going on and it's probably normal but also it could be cancer. Oh, and the mass is w...

curious that country house isn't just freshening up for the fall, he's just OUT ALL YEAR. wonder if there's something up we don't know abt? illness, injury, etc. not accusing them of a cover up, it's not our business. just seems a little long for him to be out. that said, the horse always comes fir...

Re: Royal Ascot 2019

Rain has softened the course...and probably ruined a few fine frocks. Can you imagine spending a bunch of money for a fancy suit or dress, and then having to either get soaked or cover up with a homely plastic poncho? Does anyone know what the weather forecast is for the next couple of days? ...

Re: Royal Ascot 2019

When are we going to admit that Blue Point is simply better than Battaash? I'm so tired of people saying BP has better Ascot form, better over the 5f at Ascot, and if Battaash is in the right headspace he's unbeatable... yet again Blue Point beats Battaash fair and square. Maybe I'm old fashioned, ...
