Re: Retirements 2013

“She has a little issue,” Hollendorfer said of Lady of Fifty’s condition. “She will go to the sale and won’t race again.” As horrible as it may sound, I hope it's true that she does have a "little issue" that would keep her from racing but not prevent her from training up to the sale. I would reall...

Re: Bill

Bill had the cath procedure at 9 a.m. Good news and some not so good news. No stents needed, no blockages, what they saw on the stress test x-ray was some muscle damage to the back side of the heart. So he must have had a heart attack in Saratoga even though they said he didn't. Dr. Adler said it w...

Re: Sales/Rescues

What happened to the second person that caused him to send the horse "direct to slaughter"? It sounds like the horse did something. Why didn't he call the original owner and tell him to come get his horse? Or did he and no one came? There is a name on those registration papers and if it didn't matc...

Re: Sales/Rescues

I don't care if it's your damn twin brother. Get a contract in writing, charge some money. And check on the horse from time to time. And even then you can be too late to save the horse. But at least with a signed contract you do have the last-ditch option of suing the bastard, and hoping for lots o...

Frankly, better news than expected after Cymple Rhythm 's vet exam. Just posted by Caroline on FB: "Cymple Rhythm's veterinary examination at Apple Valley Equine Hospital just ended. She has a BCS of 2, the swelling and heat observed in her foreleg is due to a superficial scrape, she is NOT in foal...

Re: Bill

Just got a call from the cardiologist with the results of the stress test. They found a major blockage in another artery and a minor one in another. In addition to the electrician (pacemaker doctor), he needs a plumber (stent doctor). He's to go in on Thursday for catherization and possible stent i...

Good going, LBB! I'm green with envy. Jumping didn't come easily to me, and circumstances (aka spare cash for riding lessons) changed right around the time I finally started to get the hang of jumping. Thanks! That must have been frustrating for you! It's been a bit of an up hill battle for me as I...

Re: Suspected case of equine herpesvirus at Bowie

Hopefully not that. Per PR initial tests are negative, so samples now sent to second lab.

The name Bowie brings back memories. I used to live up there once upon a time, and frequently took the road going past the track on my way to work.

@raypaulick just heard from Alonso sister-in- law & brother. He is okay, only sore arm to report. Everything else ok. Thanks for praying.
That sounds hopeful. Wishing him a speedy and complete recovery.
