That is just... a REALLY inelegant, unfortunate name.
Its the name of a National Park in Australia. It doesn't sound bad with proper pronunciation.
Is it something like, KAH-KADU? Anyway, I Googled it and the park looked stunning in all of the photos I saw.

Re: Photos/News about Broodmares

A lot of you are probably already aware of this but for those who aren't I learned today that thoroughbreds seem to conceive twins more often than other breeds. Around 20% of ovulations in TB mares result in twins. There's no explanation as of yet. Also, mares who conceive twins are more likely to ...

Re: Racing in Japan

Very exciting to hear a rising star like Tower of London will remain in training and venture overseas this year or the next. If he retires to Japan I have to imagine he would make an appealing outcross for many of the local mares.

MG's trainer did say they were looking at Japan/Dubai in the post race interview.
It's been years since we've sent over a decent horse for the Japan Cup Dirt. I'd love to see him go for it.

Donna Veloce (Uncle Mo/Coin Broker) broke her maiden impressively at SA. Her 2nd dam is BC Juvenile Fillies winner and expensive auction purchase Cash Run.
Interesting. I forgot Cash Run had been sold overseas and visited stallions like Montjeu and Galileo.

Re: Santa Anita Autumn Meet

Always interesting to see an older horse get his first stakes win a G1.

McKinzie is a good horse and consistent, but he's no standout in the Classic.

Re: Jockey Club Gold Cup

I agree with Som. After watching the replays a few times, Code of Honor appeared to have his head in front once or twice. Given the multiple bumps that Vino Rosso gave him, I think the disqualification was warranted. I have to imagine when the degree of separation is mere inches, several bumps absol...

I just want to say that I'm really amused that today's Ack Ack (G3) at Churchill has a Mr. Darcy, a Mr. Jaegermeister, and a Mr. Freeze. And they will all break alongside each other.

I've read that Seeking the Soul had an episode of 'the thumps' before (during?) the Pac Classic. Electrolyte imbalance causing spasms of the diaphragm, IIRC. Re: Stallion News

Honestly, when you see the same mare has been sent to the next newly retired buzz stallion year after year, regardless of sireline or physical, it makes one wonder if any breeder is all that worried about breeding a racehorse or just a good turn around at the initial yearling sales. Well, the curio...

Re: Stallion News

I hope solutions can be found for the handsome son of Lonhro. IIRC, Starspangledbanner was also deemed 'subfertile,' but he has apparently responded to whatever treatment he got and is siring good runners. When I read the article I thought of Starspangledbanner too. I hope they are able to resolve ...
