Re: What You Don’t Know About Animal Kingdom’s Pedigree

Very nice article! Being of Eastern European descent (Polish) I find this history in his pedigree fascinating. Sometimes it's easy to forget that before the Communists took over much of Eastern Europe it was a very different place. While his Czech ancestors may be far back in his pedigree I am sure ...

Re: Stallion News

Keep Up a son of Keeper Hill has retired to stud at Mill Ridge Farms He is really quite a handsome boy and a fantastic pedigree. Hope he does well. From what they said he overcame alot just to survive, let alone race and have pretty solid earnings. http://i.bloodhorse.com/sroimages//large/000016733...

Re: Racehorses as foals

A flashy chestnut I always was partial to was Majestic Prince. He was a record priced yearling but I have never seen a picture of him as a foal or yearling.

Re: Imported mares and their offspring in Japan

In just one stallions book, 88 classy mares forever lost to the American thoroughbred. I think it stinks and shows just how badly our bloodstock is being depleted. This is one stallion overseas. Just one. And 88 of his mares are from the United States. :( And people wonder why we have not TC winners...

I have two photos of Exceller when he stood at Gainesway. The first is when he was just retired and racing fit, the second after a year at stud. Wow, what a difference. He was such a handsome boy.

I like Mr. Ramsey. I wrote a paper about him and Roses in May for one of my graduate degree classes so I have followed him for a while. I was not a fan of him sending Roses in May to Japan but he is a very astute businessman. I think he has done a masterful job with Kitten's Joy. Talk about branding...

Re: Tornados in the Mid West

We live in Cynthiana Kentucky, and it's all clear now. We had a nasty little squall line come through about 8 or so which dropped the temp about 20 degrees. We have had nothing but rain and gale force winds most of the day, but living on a ridge top the gusty winds are pretty much par for the course...

I see Three Chimneys has 2014 stud fees listed, but I don't see Red Giant. Has he been moved because on the Bloodhorse stallion directory he is still listed at Three Chimneys.

Re: Fasig-Tipton November 2013

This sale is almost depressing with all these mares going to Japan! It's VERY sad. I have nothing against the Japanese. But if our breeders continue to allow our top racemares and bloodlines to leave, what does that leave for the US breeding industry? Yes, you can say there are plenty of horses to ...

Re: Stallions in Japan

Yes the free market is part of American culture, but it doesn't mean people don't let greed overrun good sense. You sell you top of the line stock, retain the lower end stock, you will not be breeding champion caliber animals very long. Sure you may get the occasional fluke here and there but in gen...

Re: Stallions in Japan

So with their thoughts being that, then should they not be considered as racist, nationalist, etc? Aren't they being selfish for keeping all those animals on such a small island and with such a small racing audience. And gosh, where are they going to put all the foals produced every year? (Sarcasm) ...

Re: Rachel Alexandra

It depends on how Mrs. Banke looks at Rachel. She isn't just owned by Stonestreet though. She is also owned by the Estate of Harry McCormick. So I don't know how that factors into their decision. What is one wants to breed her but the other doesn't? I didn't know that. I guess in that case if one p...

Re: Breeder's Cup Saturday

WTC is a very nice horse and so handsome. For being just a 3 year old he did quite well I thought. I would have been happy is any of the several horses in that race won. The top three were really something though. Wayne Lucas is having a fantastic year. I for one am glad he is still around. He seems...

So will Mucho Macho Man be retired? I thought they said this was his last race but never really said, or is he being sold at Keeneland? Just wondering. Thanks.

Re: Harlan's Holiday euthanized

We had a cat once that unbeknownst to us was stepped on by our Mastiff, well he was acting fine all day until he jumped on the bed and kinda acted funny, like something hurt him. So we took him to the vet to be on the safe side. Vet was looking at him and said he looked fine to him, he was walking a...

Re: Stallions in Japan

Actually I think what Darley is doing is really very interesting, send top stallions to another country for a year or two and then bring them home. That way others have access to hard to get bloodlines and increases appeal for his offspring. Now if only Japan would send some of their top stallions t...

Re: Rachel Alexandra

It depends on how Mrs. Banke looks at Rachel. My husband says they paid a fortune for her to win races and have babies, so she will be bred again. So I suppose if she is indeed just an investment and no emotions involved she is going to be bred. Being a woman and knowing how I am, I would just be ha...

Re: Stallions in Japan

Summer Bird looked great here in the United States too. And happy as well. Sometimes it seems like the horses magically get much better care and become so much happier once they are shipped to Japan. Seriously? That is just silly. Like we mistreat our animals here? Really? A good looking horse is a ...
