I did not realize FHF had had it's hand on BOM and Rick Porter had named him.

Isn't it considered bad luck to change a name?

Re: Battle of Midway

And here we almost had a positive story of a subfertile stallion returning to training and regaining his top form. RIP. Condolences to the connections. Has a horse ever successfully done this? I wonder how hormones play into it with bone density and stuff. This game is painful. Al Kazeem comes to m...

Recycled newspaper bedding, interesting. I wonder if that is standard in Japan. Most of the foal photos we get seem to be of mom and baby outside, never in the barn/foaling stall.

I guess the phrase 'better safe than sorry' doesn't appeal to him or his horses?

Re: Jockey/Trainer News - 2019

3 buzzers found in his home = 4 year ban  Not that I'm complaining, but Australia definitely doesn't mess around when it comes to investigations and bans. I'm kind of surprised that they were able to raid his home. Stables seems like one thing, but I don't think I've ever heard of a racing ju...

Re: White Turf

It's a cool venue, but jockey George Baker had his career ended, and almost died, two years ago after a nasty fall there. Kind of mixed emotions on it since then.

Re: New Conformation Photos

Is European Champion 3yo Sprinter even a category? No sprinter trained in Europe won more than one G1 in 2018... and I believe him and Sands of Mali were the only 3 year olds to win an open G1 sprint. Biiiiiiit of a stretch there in the marketing department. I would say that he was tough as hell bef...

If Bravazo can't win a G1 this year in the current pool of older middle distance horses then I don't know what to believe anymore.

Tremendous week for thoroughbred racing. Accelerate can now go off to the obscurity he deserves, instead of forever being remembered as the late blooming stiff who was disgracefully and ignorantly allowed Horse of the Year over a young phenom. Did Accelerate steal your wife or what? Also, on what p...

I wonder which sale he regrets more, selling Monomoy Girl in utero or selling Hansen to Coolmore.

He's already said on the record that if he had known that Hansen would be flipped to Korea after one season in the US, he wouldn't have sold him to Coolmore.

Re: 2019 Pegasus World Cup

Cool race but it's hard to get excited knowing the best horses in it won't race again. The older I get the more I appreciate the NX1 types. At least it's something to get excited about for months/years. Come to the steeplechase side! 2018 Eclipse Champion Steeplechaser Zanjabeel is 6 and still youn...

It's like Super Saver...the Phipps' matched Maria's Mon X Supercharger, but the always bleh WinStar made the in-foal purchase of Supercharger, for a steal of $160,000.

Re: horses with unique coloring/facial markings

I think I remember reading somewhere that the JRA is strict about allowing foreigners to have owners' licenses. Besides Michael Tabart who owned Hana's Goal, Harry Sweeney who owns Paca Paca Farm, and of course Sheikh Mohammed, I don't know of a lot of non-Japanese owners. Maybe syndications are ope...
