Re: Article in New York Times states Justify failed a drug test before the Derby

In the next 10-20 years, a lot of those wealthy and powerful owners won't be around anymore, and who is to say that they have successors looking to take the reins on enormous empires. I think once one particular owner passes, the global industry, and especially the American industry and sales scene,...

Re: Stallion News

I know all these farms are businesses, some (Spendthrift, WinStar, Coolmore) more commercially driven than others (Darley, Adena Springs, Claiborne), but I had a (maybe obvious to some) realization : are any of these farms actually interested in creating stallions? Like, yes, they have a bottom line...

Re: Photos/News about Broodmares

Besides the odd mare/filly in training purchase for a new/future stallion prospect (Paulassilverlining for Arrogate comes to mind), Juddmonte seldom seems to buy any broodmares at all, let alone American mares for their European stallions. Definitely an interesting purchase, and knowing the genius o...

Re: Jockey/Trainer News - 2019

The article says Man O' War was standing in his stall, long retired, when Will Harbut gave him a leg up and let him sit bareback on the horse. He was the only person beside's MOW's exercise rider and jockey to ever sit on him. So was he Man O' War's regular rider/did he actually 'ride' the horse in ...

What was that assistant starter's plan? He didn't seem to be taken by surprise when the gates opened, yet got completely decked.

Re: Stallion News

It's kind of hilarious and telling of the North American industry when the top 3 third year stallions are Take Charge Indy (exported to Korea), Declaration of War (exported to Japan), and Shanghai Bobby (Exported to Japan).

Yeah yeah yeah, Take Charge Indy is coming back, I know.

Who was asking last week about how Spendthrift is able to fit 5 news stallions in their already massive roster?

Re: Older Horses - 2019

Thunder Snow will not be running in the BC Classic this fall, unfortunately. Sounds like his connections are going to let him rest and then gear up for a go at a third World Cup victory. If he happens to successfully prep in that $20 million Saudi Cup, his lifetime earnings are going to be ridiculo...

Pierre Lapin - 2017 c. Capella Sansevero X Beatrix Potter, by Cadeaux Genereaux. He is a half brother to G1 winning sprinter Harry Angel, and he won the G3 Mill Reef Stakes today, just as Harry Angel did.

Beatrix Potter wrote the Peter Rabbit storybooks.

Re: 2019 Keeneland September

You never know what gems are hiding in those thousand dollar babies. Lots of pedigree variety, would make a nice broodmare band probably. Weird knowing that I can go to keeneland right now and be able to afford one of these guys. What would I do with him afterwards though? Whenever I see an old fav...

Re: 2019 Keeneland September

Hip # 2146 .. a Colt (Summer Front-On the Menu), sold for one thousand. Was that the low price of the session? :? Summer Front X No Such Word (G1 winner) RNA'd for $1,000 - definitely not a good advertisement for the stallion. There were 2 other horses besides Summer Front X On the Menu sold for $1...

Re: Matings 2019

I still cannot believe that Lord Kanaloa covered 294 mares in 2018. At least that number went down in 2019, even in the absence of Deep Impact. I wonder if, after the issues of Deep Impact and his neck, we'll see Shadai more evenly distributing at least some of the mares that they own in 2020. Or if...

I was wondering...HOW do you get the colon/spleen un-entrapped? It didn't sound like he had surgery, so does the vet manipulate the intestines from outside the body? :? Pretty much what Katmandu said, lots of jogging and walking, a dose of banamine and hoping everything just settles back in...

Devil - 2017 c. Siyouni X Burma Sea, by Lope de Vega.

Nice looking up and comer owned by the Wertheimers... the name isn't even a play on words, or that clever I guess... but what does one have to do to earn such a moniker?
