Re: G2 Stephen Foster

Goldencents has a good one!

Mr. Money and By My Standards are dead ringers for each other. I wonder how many Goldencents offspring look that much like him.

Re: 2019 Belmont Stakes

Sir Winston was a great Belmont horse and could have been lower than 10-1. His race in the Peter Pan was easily good enough to win, he had been training great, and he has one of the best distance pedigrees imaginable. With the Pletchers barely lifting a foot yesterday, by the end of the day I couldn...

1. The surfaces are still different. 2. Other barns certainly do draw. 3. Drugs and needles are not inherently evil and the administration of a standard anti-bleeding procedure by medical professionals is a good thing. 4. What? Average June high in Louisville: 86 degrees F. Baden-Baden: 73 Paris: 74...

Re: Belmont Stakes Race Day Card

Finally got a replay and checked some conversations online, and I'm really surprised by the lack of love I'm seeing for Mitole. Yeah, McKinzie didn't have room to run in the stretch, but he also saved ground along a good rail while rating off of a brutal pace. Mitole set that pace while contesting b...

Re: Belmont Stakes Race Day Card

Yet another outstanding victory. Are there any better horses in training than the ones we're seeing today? Today’s winners for the most part are the leaders of their division... aside from Sir Winston. 3-year-old boys are anyone’s guess. Is Omaha Beach ever coming back? I think Tacitus is the clear...

Hog Creek Hustle more like... Hurt... These... Horizontals. Rushing Fall, Midnight Bisou, World of Trouble, Mitole, and Bricks and Mortar are arguably the best five horses in this country right now. Certainly tops in their divisions. Throw McKinzie in there too, Thunder Snow is damn good, and Guaran...

Re: 2019 Belmont Stakes

Wow. What a perfect day. We didn't win much, but my hair is still straight and my foundation hasn't slid off my face. Perfect temperature and no humidity. Much, much less crowded than the past few years and a tame crowd. Still have to thank Tessa for the secret 3rd floor bathroom that saved my life...

Re: Santa Anita 2019

I'm a little behind on things, was the previous fatality also a young horse who had been through a sale? Shoulders are among the later bones to fuse in horses, so I wonder if an increase in shoulder injuries could be tied to bisphosphonate usage. From a biological perspective, it would make a lot of...

Re: 2019 Belmont Stakes

I think Tacitus stands out here, but I like Intrepid Heart and Sir Winston a bit. Intrepid Heart had that weird start in the Peter Pan that may have thrown him off his game, but he kept grinding along in the stretch and that's a pretty good thing for the Belmont. Sir Winston can't be as far back as ...

Re: Santa Anita 2019

Maybe trainers here can learn more about managing EIPH in horses like they do in the rest of the world, SANS lasix. Maybe many of the horses we breed should not be racing. If they are bleeders they go into other careers Everyone else manages to manage this. They "manage" it by racing on different s...

I've discovered that the only good healthcare plans belong to private university faculty members. Of course, the grad students who destroy themselves mentally and physically while working for the school get garbage. I'm torn between "I wish I'd caught this sooner" and "if I'd caught this sooner it w...

Re: The VENT Thread

Good call! I started seeing a podiatrist last year after breaking and dislocating one of my toes. We talked a lot about those issues (including severe pronation), I started wearing some new insoles and it made a huge quality of life difference. Unfortunately, I have extremely loose ligaments in my f...

Re: 2019 Met Mile

As it stands right now, I think the Belmont field is excellent. Game Winner, Tacitus, and War of Will alone would make it an intriguing race, but horses like Owendale, Global Campaign, Tax, and even Master Fencer really give it some depth. Certainly ahead of some of the brutal fields from around a d...

The first test said it probably was cancer, then they said it probably wasn't , then I had to wait three weeks for a biopsy result that should have been returned in one week because they forgot to call despite me calling to ask every day for the past week, and after all that they said it's probably ...

i think we both got more enjoyment out of that pic than this last episode. yikes man
Literally my least favorite thing in the show is Tyrion Explaining Things, so that was a waking nightmare.

I did enjoy the retroactive Death by Butterfly realization, however!

Re: Older Horses - 2019

There's really no good thread for this, but I need to point out that race 9 at Suffolk today was won by Irish Lassie. The official margin was 31 lengths, and the official chart says that she was "moving like a tremendous machine into the stretch."

I just thought that was adorable and had to share.
