That's big good news, though! And it's still only January :D

Beautyinthepulpit to New York's Buckridge Farm http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/articles/219315/beautyinthepulpit-to-new-yorks-buckridge-farm I didn't know who he was, but that article outlines his female family and it's quite interesting. 57 black-type horses under his first three dams... Wohlers is training him, so he's being handicapped in other ways.

Re: LeComte Stakes (G3) - 01/21/17

I'm surprised that this race has a twelve-horse field, since I don't think anyone is being allowed to ship in to ( or out of ) Fair Grounds at this time. http://www.paulickreport.com/news/thoroughbred-racing/full-field-12-scheduled-derby-prep-lecomte-fair-grounds/ It's barn by barn, you can at leas...

Re: Eclipse Awards

Thanks everyone. I was nervous, but only stumbled once that I recollect. It meant a lot to Rick and Betsy, so mission accomplished. Rick and his family are the most wonderful people. Prayers and best wishes for Rick has he undergoes treatment next month. He is in good spirits and is fighting, which...

Re: The movie thread

Did you see the new trailer or the teaser from a few months ago? The teaser was super Breakfast Club, and the new one has LOTS of Power Rangers goodness. I posted the new trailer on my FB, if you need to compare. ;P I had only seen the one they played before Rogue One, I guess that was an earlier t...

Re: Happiness

He just turned 6, so we'll play it by ear this year. But he's been training well and he's been so sound and happy, it's hard to imagine he won't at least finish out this year. He would be graded stakes placed except for Carve beating him for 3rd by a nose, and he's run against some solid horses over...

Re: The movie thread

Listen. Listen. The Power Rangers movie looks so good. I am going to see it opening day. I did not watch Power Rangers as a child, but I am inexplicably hyped about this film. Holy crap. When I first saw the trailer in the theater, I did not see the Power Rangers part coming. I thought it was a Bre...

Re: Happiness

We've been bummed because most of the horses we have in training are stuck in Louisiana because of the quarantines. I own part of Aces High, my mostest favoritestestest goofball ever, who had to miss shipping to Oaklawn to run because of this mess. We finally found a spot for Ace to run at Delta Dow...

Copingaway was euthanized due to injuries sustained after clipping heels and going down in the Ft. Lauderdale Stakes at Gulfstream today. This was his first start as a 4-year-old--and bless his heart, his 29th start overall (he ran 19 times last year)--where he was completely thrown in over his hea...

Re: Goodbye free calracing.com

Actually this made me look into RTN, which I'm now sort of excited about. I'm canceling my cable on Friday, so I'm losing TVG/TVG2. My options are limited as far as watching live racing since I live in a state where I can't have an online wagering account, which really limits my options. The annual ...

Re: EHV-1 Quarantines

It appears that the Oldham County cases reported in KY were likely the ones at HighPointe (La Grange is in Oldham County).

I added this link in the other thread, but it's a great resource:

EHV-1 Quarantines

This has gone beyond Fair Grounds/Louisiana and now extends to multiple points in Kentucky. It's uncomfortably close to home, as now HighPointe Training Center in La Grange has had a horse test positive for EHM (the neurological form of EHV-1). We had many of our horses, including our 2 year olds, s...

If you want some specifics (detailed reports including how horses were tested, moved, tracked, and things like recorded vitals such as temperature readings) you can go to this site. It covers the US and any outbreaks of equine infectious diseases: EHV-1, EHM, EIA, West Nile, Strangles, and tons of o...
