Re: Jacobson sets NYRA win record
Obviously something is going on. He does some strange things with the horses he claims... claims them for higher prices ($40-62,500), they usually have back class, they run ok, then steadily drop, nobody EVER claims off him, and then they show up for bottoms at Suffolk. OR, he claims them and bumps ...

Hollendorfer is hot right now, so I wouldn't disregard Zeewat.

I like Unbridled's Note in this. He always runs a good one.

I agree Kennedy. He's a talented little horse. I don't think we've seen the best of him!

Re: Trainers that need websites/social media
Gamblers haven't always had access to all of this information, and they got on just fine.
Good grief, is this necessary??? http://www.bobbaffert.com/ How is Bob Baffert's close up photo, or Bob Baffert riding his palomino have ANYTHING to do with horse racing???

Re: Time to Put Andy Beyer out to pasture?
Well, the favourite or "best" horses don't always win now, do they? Sometimes a horse ships and runs a big one. Dangerous Midge in the Turf in '10 is one off the top of my head. Also, sometimes horses aren't bred to be a freak at 5 furlongs on the dirt, and get better as they age. I am thinking of Z...

Re: Trainers that need websites/social media
Trainers are a little busy to be fooling around on social media! I think some trainers have websites for the partnerships they train for. I like the secrets they keep to themselves. Take Hollendorfer- when a horse of his gets injured he never totally reveals what it is. Really, it's nobody's busines...

Re: Time to Put Andy Beyer out to pasture?
Would you say horses like Ouija Board or Goldikova are third string horses?
And of course they'd pick dirt, it's where the money is. I don't get how that is inferior. It's almost like saying my neighbour who makes $20,000 a year more than me is superior to me.

Re: Time to Put Andy Beyer out to pasture?
I really don't think our turf horses are inferior. Ask Woodbine. The horses that do well on turf usually run a certain way (their action) and have a good turn of foot. Take Mizdirection. She could FLY on turf, but it doesn't make her inferior to Groupie Doll. They are just different moving horses, t...

Re: Ranking the older horses for 2014
"The most talented horse in the barn"...has been said a lot, especially from that barn. I take that with a grain of salt. "Considering what he has done and who his mother is"... he must be the next ??? MSW and allowance winner. Graydar and Cross Traffic were both wonderfully talented horses who had ...

Re: Ranking the older horses for 2014
Allow me.
Zaikov has won a MSW and an allowance, both impressively, but you might want to see him WIN a couple grade 1's or at least run in one, to give him #2. You basically just listed your favourite 3-year-olds from this year.

Re: Time to Put Andy Beyer out to pasture?
And the Awesome Again (G1) was a good field, compared to what??? The knock on Game on Dude is that he often beats crappy fields. And the knock on Wise Dan is that he's only racing against turf milers. The Awesome Again field was terrible. The best horse won, the second best horse was 2nd, the rest w...

Unknown Road looks like a nice one, with a pedigree to boot.

He was 2nd in his first start to Coup de Grace, by 3/4 of a length.

Re: Time to Put Andy Beyer out to pasture?
He's ridiculous. People have been griping about Wise Dan only running in turf miles all year, then he wants to award the Horse of the Year to a horse that couldn't win an ungraded stakes earlier in the year, and wins twice at the end of the season at the same track. How can you penalize Wise Dan for...

http://www.oldfriendsequine.org/default.aspx https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.158652991049.127444.62777301049 I think people care. I also think it is a very public issue. I agree, the horses look amazingly well cared for. I think when people fly off the handle about stallions going overseas...
