Up With The Birds wins the Jamaica

Love this colt, and it's nice to see Sam-Son with a top 3-year-old again!

Re: Champagne Stakes (G1)

The obvious choice is the Lukas colt, but (I am changing my original post) if I had to pick 4 horses I liked I would pick the Lukas colt, Grand Arrival, Debt Ceiling, and Honor Code.

Re: Dixiana Breeders' Futurity (G1)

That's not fair. Lots of good fillies have come out of the Darley Alcibiades. The last two winners, Spring in the Air and Stephanie's Kitten, have not disgraced themselves at all. Since the change to an all-weather track, it's definitely resulted in more turf oriented runners. Other than winners Dul...

Re: Darley Alcibiades Stakes (Grade 1) - 10/04/13

Her two wins have been just as impressive as any 2-year-old filly this year. I definitely think they should stick to turf and polytrack with her.

Re: Champagne Stakes (G1)

Good handicapping. You've picked 4 possible horses in this race, 3 of which are the top choices.

I guess they are giving up on cranky Spring Venture. She's for sale as racing/broodmare prospect.

Re: Horses We'd Like To Own (not the obvious ones)

Yes He's A Pistol. I worked with him when he was 3, and he was just a big, easy-going, gorgeous colt. Horse has done enough, he's run 96 times. No wins since 2011. I'd turn him out in a big field with my other OTTB gelding, and I know they'd get along great, and I would have 2 handsome chestnut geld...

Gypsy Robin loves Keeneland, I'd love to see her win.

Re: In Memoriam

The jockey did a good job of helping Buzzonkey when she pulled him up. Pretty sad looking at his lifetime results and seeing him breakdown like that. He's resting peacefully now.

*unless* Will Take Charge beats PM in the Classic. Is Orb done for the year?

Ok...fair enough...Brokers Tip was the worst. Super Saver was second worst.

Congrats to Diodoro. Take one for the Canadians!!!

This horse reminds me of Commander. Would love to see those two giants cruising on the lead together.

Re: Shanghai Bobby Retired

In your experience, and I say that without a hint of sarcasm, would you consider Shanghai Bobby a "really great 2-year-old"?

I remember him as "More than Ready".

Wasn't he one of the trainers that jumped ship from Michael Gill a few years ago? A wise decision.

Congrats!

Re: Shanghai Bobby Retired

Right. A "great" 2-year-old. Don't really agree with that. The BC Juvenile, as it turns out, was terrible. Who was the best horse to come out of that race???
Capo Bastone, a late running sprinter? Or Title Contender? Maybe Dynamic Sky???

Re: Orb

Sort of think that is the whole point of the Derby nowadays. Since 2000 who has really kept themselves together for the whole season? Street Sense? Fusaichi Pegasus...won a G2 after and was retired to stud...who can blame them with that pedigree? Monarchos...never won again. War Emblem...won the Pre...

Any fans of Strait of Dover?

His 3/4 sister Starlite Strike's 2-year-old filly by Lewis Michael, named Roma Star, is entered today at Hastings Park in the 6, a maiden optional claimer.
