Re: Article in New York Times states Justify failed a drug test before the Derby

So you're saying Baffert should use PR (otherwise known as "spin") in order to fix this? I'll stick with science, and veracity myself. But meanwhile, I don't think any PR person would "out-spin" Baffert. It's one of the things he is known for. If he ever failed at horse racing it wo...

Re: Article in New York Times states Justify failed a drug test before the Derby

Grant me one wish......and that would be that folks would give up on the knee jerk reaction to every problem that faces the industry, that being a National Governing body would prevent/resolve important issues. Horse racing ain't like the NFL or MLB or the UCI and any comparisons/wish lists are pie...

Re: Article in New York Times states Justify failed a drug test before the Derby

I agree, the big issue is that no one in racing is actually upset/doing anything about it. They’re just letting CHRB do what they want. A central governing system could help with this in the future or could still be as uncaring as everyone else is now. What do you think a central governing system w...

Re: Article in New York Times states Justify failed a drug test before the Derby

I hope Baffert is hiring a good PR firm. It doesn’t matter how innocent he is. His reputation could take a serious hit with things like this. He’s the face of the sport and already I’ve had a few non-racing fan acquaintances ask me about this. Baffert knows how to spin it clockwise and counter cloc...

Re: Article in New York Times states Justify failed a drug test before the Derby

If Joe Drape wants to go after Baffert like the Cycling Council did Lance Armstrong, more power to him. . Wow, Curtis ........ I'm amazed that you see Joe Drape as the person who wants to "go after" Baffert. :o All he did was report on a story that was given to him. That is what reporters do. Surel...

Re: Article in New York Times states Justify failed a drug test before the Derby

Just because a vet would “never” use it as a PED because if side effects doesn’t mean the man with 7 dead horses wouldn’t. The amount of blind eye people are using to explain this away is annoying and slightly disturbing. Even if given by an accident there is a reason it’s banned over a certain lim...

Re: Article in New York Times states Justify failed a drug test before the Derby

But what confuses me is the amount he had in his system? Like 300 ng/ml is a lot for contamination. even if it was "accidental" it was still over the limit and he should have been DQed Did the other horses have such high levels? It’s not a slam dunk that he would have been DQ’d due to the possibili...

Re: Article in New York Times states Justify failed a drug test before the Derby

And, were they all Baffert horses? Not sure how obtaining hay and straw is handled at a track. Presumably the high rollers would have their own trusted suppliers, and the less top drawer horses could get "standard" quality through the track? They were not unless Baffert has 4 different barns at San...

Re: Article in New York Times states Justify failed a drug test before the Derby

For all the talk we made about various horses winning the TC with an asterisk, will Justify be the first to actually get that *. If it turns out to be irrefutable that Justify was aided in the Santa Anita Derby by the said PED, I would imagine and advocate his DQ from the KY Derby. As far as the ot...

I’m withholding final judgment as more information is released and the story develops,
Big congratulations, wish the rest of the country could follow your lead, thanks.

Honor AP, a 2 yo who looked a lot like HC rallied from last to be second at Del Mar about a month or so ago in a maiden race? Has he raced again? Thanks

Re: Where are these Union Rags babies?

I assume Melatonin is at his owner's farm living the good life? That he is. Hofmans said he could have come back—and he wanted to try—but the owner said Melatonin had been good to her and had done enough so he’s a pasture pet and has the temperament for it. The other gelding is Preacher Roe, if any...

Re: Where are these Union Rags babies?

I was scrolling through my VS and realized I haven’t seen much of some Union Rags babies... - Tatters to Riches - Tale of the Union - Dessman - Motagally All have looked promising at some point or another, and all brought a pretty penny at the sales. I don’t have any answers but if you’re based on ...

Absolutely.......talk about a closer, he could be Silky Sullivanesque. Earned his keep in the shed, too.

Unbridled was a closer. He seemed to eek out a living as a stallion. A.P. Indy as well. And it's easy to forget, given how fast his offspring tend to be, that Tapit wasn't exactly a speedster either. I don't have any particular feelings towards Honor Code, but he was a quality horse, and that fact ...

Re: Honor Code ...

Pleasant Colony did okay......really it’s all about turn of foot not so much when it’s used. Honor Code had turn of foot and he was special from 7-8f. He could get 9, but I liked him best at 7-8f around one turn.
