Horses can Communicate Blanketing Preferences

Just thought this was a bit fascinating, my horse can definitely communicate her likes to me (get my halter and bring me in and feed me are pretty clear lol), but I never thought of trying to communicate at this level..... http://www.thehorse.com/articles/34718/study-horses-can-communicate-blanketin...

Re: Monmouth to offer sports betting Oct. 26

I don't know which way it will go, but I would think the crowd drawn to a sports book would be more interested/more likely to take to horse racing than your average casino goer so it may be a good thing - I personnaly would love to hang out at Gulfstream, watch horses and bet football....

And he did it again, Ducduc just got his 16th win at Gulfstream West.

Re: Ria Antonia

She's a G1 winner of 1.3 M, she's at a minimum very good . She got that G1 win by DQ (which is where she got $1.1 M of her total), and her only other win from 12 career starts was a maiden against 4 other horses--both of those were last year. I guess it would depend on your definition of very good ...

Re: Ria Antonia

I'm not sure I get the concern here. The only race she was entered in that she was way out of her league was the Preakness. Since the Preakness she's been put in 2 G3's and an ungraded. She finished 2nd in the G3 Iowa Oaks, and then 4th in her next two. I agree she should probably drop down to allo...

Re: Calder aka Gulfstream West

OK, I'm confused (and I drive by it every day from work) - it's still Calder Casino and it's still got Calder Casino on the side of the buliding so calling it Gulfstream West is confusing but it certainly looks a lot less like a race track ghetto from the road.

Mark's Cat. He was rescued from auction by Auction Horses Rescue on Saturday, with an injured knee and very distraught, only to develop violent colic, and had to be released from his pain. RIP handsome boy, you were so close to a better future. https://www.facebook.com/auctionhorses/timeline?ref=pa...

Got a chance to drive over to Gulfstream and see him run for the second time today - he really is a beautiful horse.

Re: Dressing well at the racetrack

I am a jeans girl but it depends on the race day. On a regular race day I will dress jeans up (if I have a seat) or down (for Calder in particular) depending on what track I'm at. I like to buy one 'lady' dress a year and it usually ends up being my Florida Derby dress - must be hand washable and no...
