Re: Holy Bull Stakes (Grade 2) - 01/25/14

As the race unfolded, who could have predicted in advance that CDG wouldn't be able to do that? Of course now with hindsight one might conclude that he probably couldn't, but that wasn't obvious at the time. The point remains that there is no certainty that not rushing up to the lead would have lef...

Re: Holy Bull Stakes (Grade 2) - 01/25/14

Interesting that you took it that way. I just stated essentially that I hold a differing opinion. If that's condemning, then every time someone disagrees they are condemning the opinions of others? That sure doesn't leave much room for friendly discussion. How should one take this: "I think he has ...

Re: Holy Bull Stakes (Grade 2) - 01/25/14

But markedly less "fine" when following the instructions would have left the horse essentially trapped behind other runners. Perhaps, but there is no guarantee he would have been "trapped". Have you ever seen a horse slip through an opening on the rail? Of course. But that requires a horse that aft...

Re: Holy Bull Stakes (Grade 2) - 01/25/14

I just read Porter's comments and I don't see where he said anything awful. He said the race was not ridden the way they had agreed. If those are the facts, I think he has a right to express them without people who have no stake in the outcome jumping down his throat. What? You make public comments...

Re: Holy Bull Stakes (Grade 2) - 01/25/14

I'm content with my opinion. Thanks, though! The part I find most bizarre, still, is Porter lambasting 'the jockey' for not commenting on what happened on the far turn, while strongly indicating that nobody ever actually asked about it. I'm content with mine, too. Thanks! You're welcome. The differ...

Re: Holy Bull Stakes (Grade 2) - 01/25/14

Is this the first time Ricks had an untested horse draw the one hole and had the race dictated? Maybe he belonged in the earlier allowance race if he wanted the horse to answer these questions . Why not take responsibility for that decision? He already cleared the N1X condition. It's fine to be pis...

Re: Horses Zenyatta Beat vs Horses Rachel Alexandra beat

I have to vote for Cinnabon as the best on the planet. Not dry-stick-in-the-mouth like some are. And icing is not my thing, so I am happy with the amount of icing on a Cinnabon. And the cinnamon they use is the best. Now, if I could only figure out how to put one through a juicer, I'd be all set! ;)

Re: Horses Zenyatta Beat vs Horses Rachel Alexandra beat

People put way too much emphasis on competition. Yes it's important in evaluating a horse, but when you're winning by 20 lengths does it matter who's behind you? I don't get why people care so much? 20-50 years from now people aren't going to remember or even care who finished behind (or even who f...

Re: Hard Spun Foals

Although stakes results stateside were disappointing this weekend with Wicked Strong not faring well, though Artest finished second and Hardly finished fourth in their respective stakes races, we did have a winner in Australia... Silk and Diamonds won a maiden race at Werribee. She trailed the field...

Re: Holy Bull Stakes (Grade 2) - 01/25/14

Disappointed in Wicked Strong. Was hoping he would improve off his Remsen. I hope he's better than what he showed today. He seemed kind of worked up before the race and his jock had to get off him briefly in the gate. Oh, well, onward.
