Re: Santa Anita 2019

I feel sick Me too. It's deeply troubling. We enjoy seeing foals being born on live cams. We enjoy pictures of cute, fuzzy, long-legged babies. And then we learn that they are being given powerful drugs like the bisphosphonates sometimes just a year or less after birth. On the track, they are given...

Some really lovely foals on this page. I'm especially taken with the Decorated Knight colt out of Miss Laila. Beautiful lines and angles on that one.

I know he isn't registered black, but does anyone have any other pictures of Long Range Toddy?
This is an incredibly unflattering photo (he seems to be a tongue-out type) but it shows his color the best
His tongue is out like that because of the tongue tie used on him.

Re: Stallion News

Heartbreaking about Pioneer. Seems just yesterday he was a promising 3-year-old on the Derby trail. They think he died of a ruptured aorta. That can happen to any human and animal. It happened to my beloved little Kitty just before Christmas 2017...in fact, only two days after the devastating San Lu...

Youngster by I'm All the Talk is blonde.
She's quite pretty and seems very correct. I definitely do not know how to judge a really good walk from just an ok one, but that filly does seem to move very fluidly.

Long Range Toddy, for Take Charge Indy.
Breaks my hear that Take Charge Indy was sold overseas so fast. I know the farm here supposedly has some kind of right of return in the sales contract, but getting him back won't be easy I think.

Re: Sad state of breeding

Once four mile races with two mile heats were common. Then 1 1/2 to 2 mile races were common. Once true handicapping was common and the best horses carried a lot of weight. Over time 1 1/2 mile races have become more rare, while sprints dominate racing calendars. True handicaps have almost become ex...

She's giving serious thought to turning grey, but Silvery Starlet's Gun Runner filly is probably the flashiest foal on the farm so far this year. #foalFriday

Re: Honor Code 2 year olds

Count me among those who wish Honor Code every success as a sire. My fear for stallions I've become attached to is what happens if they don't succeed at stud. The odds are heavily against any stallion succeeding, and the ones that don't hit immediately tend to get shuffled aside very quickly. The co...

Omgosh tachyon you're so right - not like Graham to get that wrong but now I remember how we were kind of side-eyeing the choice of name for a petite-ish filly. Ridan - the white hairs are a result of the dominant white genetic trait/allele and not regular graying-out. Basically what happens ...

That Frankel x Untappable baby is adorable. By the way, I agree that it would be wonderful to see some U.S. mares bred to Japanese stallions and brought back here to foal.

Not quite a headshot, not quite a conformation pic, but Victory Gallop is looking good. Photo by Kadir Civici. He's looking very handsome. Looks younger than his 24 years. I wish the economics of horse racing and breeding was such that a stallion with his race record did not have to be sent oversea...

Re: Stallion Headshots Collection

Tiny though he is, Baron sometimes runs with Chrome in his paddock. I'm not surprised. If I'm not mistaken, Baron is a Jack Russell Terrier. I've never met a Jack Russell who thought of her/himself as small. I've seen them run (ride) around ON horses and ponies, not just with them in the padd...
