It was a nice move and he appeared to be well within himself. The rider had a snug hold on him. Here's the photo that was on Bloodhorse.

Re: Will Take Charge

Bringing his own thread forward- I think our handsome boy deserves it! I hope he runs in the Clark. Would be a great race if Game on Dude goes. Neck N' Neck also possible. He is going to run in the Clark. Yesterday I started a thread for that race in case people wanted to discuss it. http://www.tho...

Clark Handicap

Didn't see a thread for this race, so thought I'd start one for discussion. Re: First Winners

This thread seems like a good place to add that this year's leading first crop sire by earnings is Dunkirk. He has 126 2-year-olds, 39 to race and 14 to win. Pioneerof the Nile, who is second on the first crop list, has a far better percentage of winners to runners. He has 94 2-year-olds with 30 to ...

Re: Honor Code

Thanks Matt. I agree about seeing an A P Indy win the Derby. Would be wonderful. Among his other good qualities, Honor Code has an interesting pedigree. Not only is he inbred to Secretariat through Indy and Storm Cat, but he's from Serena Song's direct female family. She appears to be developing int...

Re: New Conformation Photos

Buffum is a 5-year-old, but looks younger in that photo. Looks like he just came off the track. He's an attractive, well-balanced stallion with a very good pedigree. I especially like his legs.

That photo of Fort Larned does him no favors.

First time I've seen that photo. The two mares look so relaxed that it relaxes me. :)

Re: New Conformation Photos

Santiva: The photo appears to have been taken from a low angle, and the stallion is not standing square. so it gives him a bunched up appearance. Has a quarter horse look to him in that photo. Coil: I've always been partial to bright red chestnuts. Mission Impazible: He's very pretty, but appears to...

Re: Honor Code

Don't mean to insert myself into the argument, but just want to say it's unfortunate that something so petty has been allowed to hijack this thread. Honor Code is an interesting colt with a bright future, hopefully. I, for one, would enjoy it if the discussion in this thread could remain centered on...

So sad. The colt is just a baby at 2 years old. I hope he pulls through, poor guy.

Re: Honor Code

This colt has tremendous promise. I'm glad his connections decided to skip the BC and give the colt more time to grow and develop. As for Secretariat on both sides, there was an article on Bloodhorse.com about inbreeding to Secretariat and saying it is not a passing fad. I posted a link in the Breed...

Re: Black Thoroughbreds

Dream Valentino (Roses in May x Cosmo Valenti by Meiner Love) certainly looks true black to me. Roses in May definitely looks true black in that photo as there doesn't appear to be any brown in the usual places where brown usually shows in otherwise black-looking horses. Halo was registered as a bl...

Re: Black Thoroughbreds

Thank you for the calculator, although -- for me anyway -- it just confuses things. All I know is horses that appear black often have brown in the coat, usually on the flanks, belly, chest behind the elbows/shoulder, and muzzle. Here is a photo of a Freisan stallion who is true black with no brown a...

Re: Black Thoroughbreds

Nice-looking horse, but doesn't appear to be a true black. True black is very rare in Thoroughbreds. Why this is, I don't know, but it is. Most Thoroughbreds that appear black will almost always have some brown in the coat and, of course, many grays are born black but begin showing gray pretty early.

Re: We're back

I re-registered earlier this week. Before the old board was hacked, I was registered as Roman_Brother. Nice to be back. My new screen name here honors another horse I loved when I was a youngster, the flashy bay Ridan, full brother to Moccasin, Lt. Stevens and Thong, and half-brother to Gambetta. Th...

Re: The rise of Sunday Silence

I wish we had a top son of Sunday's here in the U.S. Heck, I wish he had never been sent to Japan in the first place. Great horse deserved to stand and live out his life here at home. Sigh.
