Re: The College & University Thread

Yea the class is stats for psych majors and is just called psych statistics. Each major has their own stats class at our university pretty much. I thinking (well hoping) as we get more into the class it will become more interesting because right now it's pretty general, 'building blocks' info. [/qu...

I'm with you. They're endlessly boring. Are you doing psych stats (can't think of any heavily rooted math psych class)?

Re: Breeders' Cup Top 5

He just seems off form this year. Unless you want to go with the theory that he bounced at Oaklawn after the GP fiasco, and then bounced at Saratoga after the Stephen Foster. Once they switched him onto the main he was fairly consistent and this year he has not been. I bet him last year with gusto i...

Re: Breeders' Cup Top 5

Good luck with that one. Funny how things change... Earlier in the year after his Sunshine Millions win he was one of the poster children for Eastern dominance in the older horse ranks while I continued to tout Game On Dude as at the same level as those eastern horses. Now I mention him as a possib...

Re: Breeders' Cup Top 5

Fort Larned going into the Classic off an allowance race is a little concerning to me.

I think if Palace Malice continues developing he could do well there. Where is he going next?

And second, why does one automatically assume (not you specifically, as I've seen others assume the same), that he had a mental disorder? That he suffered from PTSD? We don't KNOW the whole story yet, and from published accounts, he was a quiet, kind man. Evil can be a terrible influence on those t...

Re: Wise Dan

Did you read this thread? How many "just enjoy him" or "he's the greatest horsey ever" posts are there? All those posts do is tell you that you're wrong if you either A) don't think he's the greatest horse ever or B) think that his campaign is a yawner. Neither one of those thoughts is wrong, and p...

Re: The College & University Thread

I started about 4 weeks ago..maybe? After the first two weeks I lose track. lol But my school is pretty quite and we have no cool equine programs. My psychology stats class should be interesting though, but not in an enjoyable sense. What!!! Psych is fascinating. Started my GRE studying a week ago....

I'm feeling Lorde lately. Her song Royals is top 40 now, but her voice is insane.

Drake's new album drops in a week, but I'm so disappointed with every single off it.

Re: Wise Dan

It cracks me up when people try to stifle conversation about horses. Who cares whether some people don't think Wise Dan is the greatest horse this year, decade or century? He is a great horse, but that doesn't mean we have to stop having any conversations about where he fits historically. No shit? ...

Who is missing out on the special horse? Your "ra ra" speech was great, yet moderately (if not completely) irrelevant. It is entirely possible to appreciate the horse, recognize he's special, yet find his campaign underwhelming.[/quote] My "ra ra" speech was legen-dary. Perhaps I find your comment ...

Re: Wise Dan

Everyone is arguing for the sack of arguing, really. No one is lauding him as the best horse ever, and no one is saying he's a terrible horse

I don't know why popular horses like this elicit such ridiculous, and at this point utterly banal, arguments. "Everyone" is reading what isn't there.

Re: Wise Dan

Without a doubt, he is the best horse in North America right now regardless of what any of us fans (experts???) think or say. I was there yesterday, he was just cruising. He wasn't even challenged, and he broke the track record. He got into position, relaxed behind the leaders, blew by them, and wa...

I'm only stating that I don't think, at least here or in my own circle of racing folk, that anyone has said he's a bad horse. Just that his campaign is boring.

Two vastly different statements.

I'm not sure I've ever seen or heard anyone say he's not that good. Only that him beating up on creampuffs is egregiously underwhelming.

He wins.

I would actually like to see this horse lose, so maybe they do something exciting with him, but that won't happen. 1:31 and change in a hand ride.

He could be, but it's really hard to say one way or the other some 3 months out.

But not discussing these things is boring.
